Amon Amarth are epic in all forms possible. This re-issue of their first album which is remastered isn't quite like their latest material, but still awesome as an album. For the price it costs, it's totally worth is, considering there's a bonus Live Album.

When I first heard this album I was completly blown away. The first song started out and after a minute I was hooked. By the time it came to Victorius March I knew I had to have all of Amon Amarths albums. If you are into Death Metal, Melodic Metal, or any type of Metal I would recomend this CD.

I just received my copy of this disc today and I'm listening to it as I write this. I've really been waiting for something like this. I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to TRUE metal. I've always listened to heavy music like Pantera, Korn, slipknot...But then, one day, I just couldn't find anything that I liked to listen to anymore...nothing "nu" anyways. All the so called nu-metal bands just kind of kept on going without me...In fact, once they coined the term "nu-metal" I split the scene. It just started to all sound the same, all produced by the same producers and very monotonous...so, I decided to venture out and find music that would give me a thrill, test my abilities as a musician and basically give me a taste of something new...which is, for me, what music is all about. Something that moves you. I bought Cradle of Filths "Lovecraft and witchhearts" and since then I have been an extreme-metal fan...Notice I didn't say "metal-head" since I don't see myself as one...I don't wear long-sleeved black Dio shirts everyday and my hair isn't long, in fact if you saw me, you would probably think I was a prep or some indie kid...never having the slightest clue that I was a die hard riff freak!! Some metal is a bit too much for me...some punk is a bit too much for me. Bottom line, it has got to have rhythm and melody.. I mean, thats what riffs are all about...Thats one reason I love black metal and Melodic death metal so much...It's hard, It's Heavy and it's got these HUGE epic sounding melodic riffs to it...Amon Amarth will definately satisfy you if this is the kind of metal genre you are looking for...Great guitars, HUGE drums and the singer is growly, but not over the top like some bands are... And if you like these guys, I would strongly suggest checking out Dimmu Borgir's " death cult armageddon", "Enthroned Darkness Triumphant" and " Puritanical Misanthropic Euphoria" they are AWESOME!!!
