I have long been a fan of this series since I discovered it on PBS. We most recently bought this box set and re-discovering how good it is. There is definitely a dark element to the humour, it has more of an edge than some of the other Brit-Coms. It has its own personality - we marval at how Victor and Margaret manage to stay together sometimes through thick and thin. The humour moves from very dark to laugh out loud hilarious. The comedy can be very physical, but not in an Laurel and Hardy way. Think of the episode where Victor stays home all day waiting for jury duty, particularly at the end where he discovers the toupee in the loaf of bread and ends the show by calling the baker to complain, staring at himself with the toupee on his head. 'I don't believe it!' Good show, highly recommended.
