5 stars for One Little Blueberry -- a charming counting book July 3 2012

The premise of the book is that 1 little blueberry falls to the ground and a series of bugs (2 ants, 3 ladybugs, 4 bees, etc.) see it and want to eat it. It is great for teaching kids to count. Each number appears in numerical form ("2") and is spelled out ("two"). The illustrations are cute but simple. I like that the illustrations are simple because they are not distracting (which is a complaint I have with an Elmo counting book that my daughter received). The pages and binding are sturdy and the book is a good size -- not too small or too big. And, the best thing about the book is that my daughter loves it. She has asked me to read it to her at least once a day since we got it. I bought the book from Amazon when it was in "bargain books" and think it is such a steal!

Learning to Count is Fun! April 15 2011
By Cheryl C. Malandrinos - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Who knew one little blueberry could cause so much trouble? When one little blueberry falls to the ground, all the hungry insects are eager to have it for themselves. Who will end up with this tasty treat?

Counting has never been so much fun as with One Little Blueberry by Tammi Salzano. I truly loved this story. It takes a great deal of imagination to create a simple book that teaches counting, but Salzano makes it seem easy. Whelan's bright and colorful illustrations in some ways matched the simplicity of the text: the angular lines of the ants' faces, the insects' dot eyes, the wispy lines of the antenna. Yet, there is so much going on in these zany pictures of insects chasing after the coveted blueberry, that you're captivated by them as much as you are by the story.

This might just be my favorite book of the spring season!

Kristi's Book Nook April 22 2011
By Kristi Bernard - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Rhyming and counting are always a great way to kid gets reading. Preschoolers will love this softly colored book as they learn about the different insects whilst they chase a little blueberry rolling down a hill. But who will be the winner of this delicious little fruit, you will have to read the story to find out.

Parents will be able to introduce little readers to counting, insects and rhyme. This is a great tool to open up dialogue for teaching and reading.

Loved This Book For my 3 yr old May 22 2012
By KtMerr - Published on Amazon.com
I can't believe that I haven't heard more about this book! This is actually my first review after years of purchasing on amazon. What a find! Loved the hard cover and semi hard pages but my 2.5 year old loved this book and cannot stop reading it. It is a hidden gem. Wonderful for teaching counting skills but also wonderful for those kids that love bugs.

My 2 year old chooses this book nearly every night before bed. Cute little story & nice illustrations. Helps with counting and bug identifying.
