Donald Altman, MA, LPC, is a practicing psychotherapist, former Buddhist monk, award-winning writer, and board member of The Center for Mindful Eating. The author of<I>Meal by Meal</I> and other books, he teaches at Lewis and Clark College Graduate School and in the interpersonal neurobiology program at Portland State University. He lives in Portland, Oregon.

This is the perfect book for that quick moment of mindfulness. It really starts my day with a smile and a gentle reminder of why we're here on this earth--to find new possibilities in a stressed out world, to connect peacefully with ourselves and others. Each time I pick it up I find something new to think about.

I'm a health writer and often write about the topic of mindfulness, because there's so much research on the benefits of mindfulness-based stress reduction. There are a lot of books out there on this topic, but I find Donald Altman's among the best of the best--and this is another winner. He presents mindfulness in its practical essence, allowing anyone to practice it easily, in any circumstance. That is a HUGE help, I think. I highly recommend this book for people new to mindfulness, and people who want to refresh and renew their practice of this accepting, open attitude, which is so essential to health and well-being.

Ever feel like the world around you is collapsing right on top of you? Looking for something that can offer you a bit of peace? Author Donald Altman shares some amazing ways to get that clarity you are looking for in his book ONE MINUTE MINDFULNESS.

Realizing that there is no "one size fits all" approach to the problems we face and how to fix them, Altman gives us a variety of ways that we can try in just 60 seconds to refocus, regroup and realize the preciousness of the moment. That was one of the first things I realized as I read the book: so much can be accomplished and avoided if we only enjoy the time and place we are in right now.

Whether it is avoiding some of the negativity in the people and online social circles we come in contact with or reminding yourself of the greatness inside, there is alot we can accomplish if we only readjust our thinking.
