Product Description

Album Description

2009 release, the fifth album from the Scottish Progressive Indie rockers. Here, they forgo the overt commercialism of Puzzle in favor of a return to their classic style: welding Emo-style structures to technically complex math- and jazzcore elements. Named for the novel by Mark Danielewski, produced once again by Garth Richardson (Gallows) and with striking cover artwork shot by the legendary Storm Thorgerson, the album includes the singles 'Mountains', 'The Captain' and 'That Golden Rule'. 14th Floor.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good, if not oddly constructed, album., July 17 2010

I stumbled upon Biffy Clyro entirely by chance thanks to their song playing in the trailer for Charlie St. Cloud. After a little searching, I came upon this album. Only Revolutions is chock full of big hooks and clever lyrics, with song like 'Many of Horror' and 'The Captain' leading the way. However, I think it was put together a bit slap dash and there are tracks that just don't seem to belong. The pacing of the album is a bit thrown off, as can be seen in between 'Mountains' and 'Many of Horror'. Two great songs with huge emotion end up sandwiching the terrible and out of place 'Shock Shock'. The album has some incredible and honest music, but it feels like they might have missed out on an even better, cohesive experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good, Nov 18 2011

Great hooks, strong pop sensibility with enough hardness to knock you off your chair every now and then. Elements of Kyuss, Foo, Jimmy Eat, and a little Scottish folkish flare, duct taped together in a very new way. Really a delicate balance. This is one of the best bands in the world right now. Saw them on festival live set on PLD and was stricken. Big Live Power Trio feel that is rare now. Must see them live.

5.0 out of 5 stars BIFFY RULES OK !!!!!!!, July 25 2011
By HANS D HARMS - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Only Revolutions (Audio CD)
I'm 60 years old and play guitar as well as being a BLUES / GUITAR nut.....I stumbled on BIFFY by accident and would normaly have dismissed it as it is not in the genres I like.....I would have missed some of the best music going around today.....this is a classic rock cd that might well be in a timecapsule as the best this era has to offer....my favourite bands are KINGS'X and MOE and these young scots are at least their equal....the hooks are irresistable....the lyrics intelligent and original and even my better half who rarely sees eye to eye with me in things music, loves this band.....the FOOFIGHTERS should be supporting this band and not the other way around.....why they are not the biggest band in rock today is a mistery....if there is justice, they soon will be !!
