Product Description

A fun Irish love story set in the sleepy little village of Ballydara!

"The urge to contact an old boyfriend should be treated with extreme caution," says Dublin single mom Aislin Moore.

In this breezy romantic comedy, twentysomething Aislin decides her daddy-hungry son Kevin has been without a father long enough, so she follows the mad impulse to find the perfect father figure for her little boy... Who else but Ben Carpenter, her first love and the man she's never forgotten?

Turns out, easygoing businessman Ben is great father material. And more of a hunk than she remembered. Although Aislin is determined to keep things platonic, having Ben around is far more of a distraction than she planned, and before long, she’s fresh out of her klutzy charm to sort out the mess she’s created.

When Aislin takes refuge at her granny's cottage in Ballydara, County Galway, to plan her next move, she learns life has only begun to get complicated—and she is soon faced with decisions about family, forgiveness, and her relationship with Ben. Can a commitment-shy young mother find lasting love?

The Hopeful Romantic, the 3rd novel of the series, is now available! It’s the tender tale of a young Dublin wife and mother, whose satisfying marriage is upended by her yearning for a new life in the country. An old-fashioned love story, The Hopeful Romantic is also a sensitive portrayal of marriage, family, and second chances.

I like the story but I found it too wordy. Why not just tell Ben he is Kevin's father. She took too long.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Charming! July 19 2011
By Miscpatsy - Published on

What a charming novel! I was reeled in from the first paragraph and couldn't wait to see what happened to the heroine, Aislin. Truly loved the cast of characters and their banter back and forth. I felt completely transported into the lives of these Dublin residents. If you're a fan of Marian Keyes, this one is for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars charming Oct. 24 2012

I found the book charming, sweet and some surprises. Somewhat long in Aislin's going back and forth in her thinking about her dillema. I did enjoy it and would like to visit with the characters again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Despicable Aug. 10 2013

The protagonist is supposed to be this cool, flippant, with-it single mom. Instead of identifying with the character, you wind up disliking her character and finding her the most annoying, mouthy, self-involved person you've ever had the misfortune to meet.

This is my first village of Ballydara novel but it won't be my last. I'm finding it hard to put the book down and I will definitely be ordering more.
3.0 out of 5 stars Predictable story March 31 2015

I usually enjoy books based in Ireland. Unfortunately this was not one of them. Asilin is the main character, around 25 years old. Never married with a young son, Kevin. Asilin tries to be a good mom but she is pretty immature. She decides to contact the babies daddy through his mother. Neither the baby's daddy, Ben or his mother know there is a child. You know from the point Ben shows up in Ireland they will get together and be wonderful parents for Kevin. Unfortunately it takes about three hours of reading to reach that point.
