Well written, concise and definitely lives up to its name. An excellent guide for decluttering and staying that way.

I'm on an journey of clearing the clutter and through this journey I'm reading various de-cluttering books. This book should be called "A Good Christian Mother's Guide to Becoming an Ideal Homemaker". It is definitely not geared towards busy professionals. She states at one point that her calling is nesting, and that's great, I'm happy for her, however she offers no advice for someone who's vocation lies elsewhere. She even says "If you feel too busy to cook from scratch, then I argue that you are too busy". Well perhaps I should give up my passions and find a rich husband so that I can be a housewife and cook from scratch every day then right? Simple.Anyhow, other than her obvious traditional value system of "teaching your daughter to knit, while making room for your husbands woodworking hobby" and "donating to your church" I did find some value in this book. She advises on cutting down on TV watching because it is a major time sucker. And she gets you to create a purpose statement and tape it to the wall then evaluate all your belongings and commitments against your statement. This is golden advice and I will follow it. All in all, it wasn't a very inspiring read. Though, I did find some good step by step advice. The clutter clearing book I would recommend long before this one is "Unclutter Your Life: Transforming Your Physical, Mental, And Emotional Space" by Katherine Gibson. As well, I'm eager to read her new book "Pause". Good luck to you out there with your goals and may clutter not stand in your way.

This book is wonderful but I did find that she was a little over consumed with the organizing. I believe this family live in a small home and it is harder to make this work for a much larger home filled with a lot more items. She does give great direction though and ideas to help you out. I does work if you stick to it. Her charts and organizations lists at the back of the book are fantastic. I have to admit I did skip over some of the book to get to the charts as I was eager to begin. I would recommend this book to someone that is willing to spend some time and work away at getting organized in their lives.Sharon
