It should be noted that Orphan Music is not an entirely live CD, in fact six of the 15 tracks are B-sides, of which two ("Lucky Me" and "Pilgrim") are also included in the live set. Another caveat that should appear in every Slean review is just how strongly she emulates Kate Bush's singing and songwriting style. If you can get past that uncomfortable truth, Slean's songs and the accompanying string arrangements are well worth a listen. --Denise Sheppard

An artist that can combine songwriting, vocal and entertainment at such a remarkably high level should never be ignored. Anyone that can draw comparisons to Kate Bush and Tori Amos is worth a listen. This album envelopes all of Slean's talents. You can see, through the music, how she grabs the audience and keeps them under her spell. The combination of live and studio recordings nicely offset each other. Her music is simply hauntingly true. It may not be mainstream, but one should look at that as a positive. A must for any music lover's collection.

If you ever get the chance to hear Sarah Slean perform live, LISTEN! She is even more amazing live as she is on tracks. This lady's got skills and quite the imagination. Hopefully she records more live albums. She will blow your socks off.My favorite songs (if not all) are: "Last Year's War", "Mary", "Somebody's Arms", "California", and "The Score".
