Product Description

From Amazon.co.uk

It would be very easy to dismiss the bilingual debut album from Olympic gold-medal winner and world-champion boxer Oscar De La Hoya as just another pretty-boy vanity project. After just a few spins, however, De La Hoya's sweet vocal stylings have you down for the count. From the beginning, the Los-Angeles-born athlete (whose mother was a professional singer) bombards listeners with an irresistible love TKO. It helps that De La Hoya has recruited a team of pros to back him up, including producer Rudy Perez (Luis Miguel, Christina Aguilera) and ubiquitous love scribe Diane Warren, whose rousing "With These Hands" is a clever highlight. De La Hoya picks up the pace on "Para Amarte", which is anchored by Santana-esque guitar licks; and "Mi Amor", a fiery effort straight out of Marc Anthony's catalogue. The mostly Spanish album also features two English-language translations, including "Run To Me", the dewy-eyed first single that was originally recorded by the pre-disco Bee Gees. --Joey Guerra

Surprisingly Passable Album July 23 2002
Format:Audio CD
De La Hoya has some pretty decent pipes which defy inevitable comparisons to that other thespian, William Shatner. It's even better than some of the other teeny-bopper dreck out there. No, I haven't bought this album nor do I intend to. I just think it's assuring that De La Hoya has something fall back on once he realizes that he doesn't like getting punched in that pretty face of his.

Finally some competition for Shatner!!! Aug 6 2001
Format:Audio CD
This is a pathetic attempt by a man who cannot carry a tune with a forklift to cash in on the fact that the Latinas in El Paso Texas, and East L.A. swoon whenever he so much as breaks wind. Well, he may as well try acting or singing, because as was proved when he lost to Tito, he is afraid to get in the ring with certain fighters, and as was proved with Mosley, there are certain fighters he refers to as "Daddy" inside the ring. Maybe after his superfight with the other guy from Califa, Fernando Vargas, they can sing a duet together..."to all the times, Tito has embarrassed us before....and even still, our female fans still adore...we're glad you came along, because without you, no one you pay to see us, ect. ect.
