I got my first steamer about 8 years ago. Now I know it seems silly when all you need is a steamer basket or learn how to cook grains, but it does so much more. So when my old steamer started to fall apart I looked around for something comparable and this fit the bill. My old one fell apart because the plastics used in the baskets started to break down so the bottom grid plates essentially broke. There was really no way to fix this.
This one has a lot of plastic too, and would have preferred ceramic baskets with a glass lid but alas it's all pretty well plastic except the metal heating element that makes the steam.
Other than the plastic, which unfortunately all of them seem to have, it works well, does what it's supposed to and is very easy to use.
