Eva? Simply the Best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Other Side (Audio CD)
Eva Cassidy? I have all her albums. This was the first one- and my favorite. There aren't enough superlatives in the language to describe the talent this woman had. I am seventy-two years old, and I have listened to all the great ladies of jazz for sixty of those years. Although there are some good young jazz voices around these days, Eva had no peers. She was a great artist who belongs at the top with Ella, Sarah, and Billie. I lament her passing, and treasure the recordings she left us. The duets with Chuck Brown are outstanding.

PUSH ALL YOU OTHER RECORDING TO ONE SIDE...,
This review is from: Other Side (Audio CD)
...if you like jazz/blues duets. THE OTHER SIDE is pure magic! On the case, it says: "Featuring maybe the best versin of "Over The Rainbow"--well, Judy Garland fans, swallow your pride because it's not only "maybe" but IS the best. It adds: "A genuine soul voice"--yes, these two voices sing together as one. A RECORDING TO TREASURE FOR EVER !

A 1992 important recording,
By William (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Other Side (Audio CD)
This album features Eva's incredible version of "Over the Rainbow". The album was made in 1992, yet that song only started to get the attention it deserved in recent times! The rest of the album is a mix of solo tracks and duets with the funkmaster Chuck Brown. While not her greatest album, it boasts beautiful renditions of "You've Changed" and "Fever". Add the beautiful "over the Rainbow" and you still have an album worthy of any decent CD collection. If Eva had lived to see the impact that "Over the Rainbow" has had on so many people, she would be truly amazed.
