A charm!,
By Love "Avid reader" (Toronto) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Other Side of the Story (Paperback)
Now that this book has fully schooled me on the importance of these reviews, here's my piece on it... My history: I usually bought books by author - which meant that I usually missed out on gems that were written by other authors, or I was relegated to reading some of the bad ones from my favorite authors. The change: After happening upon the gem that is The Poisonwood Bible a few years ago (I don't know whether I should mention other books, but it was responsible for the change), I realised that I should try books by authors that were unknown to me. The joy: I am so happy I've changed! I LOVE this book! I know I love a book when I wish I was a character in the book (as loony as that sounds), and I did! I now have aspirations (though fleeting) of becoming a reader for a super power agency, after which, of course, I will become the agent that found the book of all books! I know I would have picked this book on the spot! Not only did I enjoy the writing style, but I was able to get an interesting and enlightening view of the book industry. I never thought it was so fascinating! Who wants Dallas and Knots Landing after all this! I loved the ending! It certainly was not what I would have expected when I first "met" the characters, but I just think everyone ended up in better places. The conclusion: Like the movie Crash which was released this year (2005), this book was a moving, delightful and extremely fascinating revelation that sometimes it's always best to see/hear/experience the Other Side Of The Story before offering up an opinion.

Love this book,

My first Marian Keyes book and I think I may get another one. This is a good book. Different perspectives on a simple story about 3 women dealing with love, loss, family, career and friendship. I give 4 stars because I found Lily's story a bit dragging. But may be it is because I cannot identify with her. If you are looking for a light read with good humor and easy to identify characters this book is for you.
