Classic soul hits with Hall & Oates blue eyed styling....,

I have a confession to make. I never liked the original Four Tops 'Standing in the Shadows of Love.' I've always had an aversion to the bombastic, overdone orchestral sounds.... Another confession: I'm a big fan of Hall & Oates and just had to get this latest album when I heard about it. When I bought this album by Hall & Oates I was expecting to grin and bear it when their 'Shadows' version played. I was thrilled to hear the smooth, plaintive voice of Daryl Hall and the distintive styling. All the remakes of the classic songs are terrific with three new Hall & Oates songs thrown in. I especially loved their version of the G Knight and the Pips hit 'Neither One of Us,' Marvin Gaye's 'After the Dance' and Aretha Franklin's 'Rock Steady.' Just outstanding! I've been playing this album over and over since I bought it. This CD is a definite keeper. I just hope Daryl Hall & John Oates make it to Vancouver and perform some of these latest songs along with their own classics.

This CD brings back memories the great songs of the Mowtown Era combined with the voice of Daryl Hall. I highly recommend it. . Standing in the shadows is excellent as well as I'll be around.& used to be my girl, You are everything. Even taking on Marvin Gaye & Gladys knight they are at their best. And just like one of their songs says "what you see is what you get". I will be awaiting a second album of more Mowtown greats. One song that is new and excellent is soul violins.for a compliment album try Daryl Hall's Can't stop dreaming to hear more beautiful songs like "what's in your world", and "Holding out for love".
