4.0 out of 5 stars "Man lives out his life in quiet desparation."......, Mar 1 2012

This review is from: Our Mr. Wrenn (Paperback)
While this is tale is not of the same caliber of other writings by Mr. Lewis, it is certainly noteworthy. "Our Mr. Wrenn..." can be easily looked upon as the trials and tribulations of a pathetic little man as he bumps and roams his way through life. But more significantly, it can more easily be viewed as it was intended to be; the universal and satirical manner in which all of us, at times, view our own lives, the direction of which we seem to have little control. Who amoung us has not viewed his/her actions as being inane and meaningless? Who has not viewed our own thoughts as being completely alien with those around us and found ourselves fumbling our way in and out of a relationship? And who has not, under duress, tried to fit our square-pegged lives into the round-holes of society? Although this reading is subconsciously difficult to read at times, it does shout to our consciousness of the difficulty we all have as we attempt to define our place in the world around us. Hopefully none of us continues in the blind ignorance, as shown by Mr. Wrenn, and we all come to a place where we see ourselves for being unique and valuable rather than a piece of scrabble or flightless wren being blown about by societal whims....
