The use of flashbacks lends credibility to Jade's past and helps flesh out her character. Although Sala (Dark Water, etc.) has the tendency to overstate her points, which is evidenced by the book's de trop epilogue, she handles the sensitive issue of Jade's past with skill, never allowing her story to descend into melodrama. In short, this is the perfect entertainment for those looking for a suspense novel with emotional intensity.

My favorite Sharon Sala book so far. I cried and cried at the end. It's terrible to think that these kind of abusers really existand that mothers can have so little sense.

Tear Jerker,

I just read this book, it maybe took me about 6 hours. I thought it was a GREAT book. I was never sexually abused as a child but I do have childhood memories that I would rather not remember, so reading about Jade really touched me. It was definetly a tear jerker and I cant wait to read another one of Sala's book. I just cant get over how good this book was

This book was beautifully written, and although the ending was a little drawn out, it was well worth it. The trajic history of the characters is heartbreaking and I thought it was very realistic the way the characters acted. It was sad and happy both and the complex relationships were wonderful to see develop. I definitely recommend this book!
