This review is from: Over the Line (Mass Market Paperback)
I had never read this authors work, but I am so glad I bought 'Over The Line'. The author does a fantastic job at laying the book out with the time line, plot and intrigue.

Also Enjoyed: Avoutrie' by Katlyn Stewart

4.0 out of 5 stars A Strong Addition To Her "BODYGUARD" Series!, Jun 14 2006

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Over the Line (Mass Market Paperback)
Former Army Ranger Jason Wilson is at loose ends. He can't do what he loves to do because of an inconvenient hearing loss. When he has finally hit rock bottom he contacts his old friend Nolan Garrett and before he knows it he's playing the role of bodyguard to none other then hot rocker "Sweet Baby Jane." With a stalker on the loose and dead bodies piling up his job is far from easy. Especially when you factor in the fact he's having a darn hard time keeping his hands and mouth off of his job.

Jane works hard and enjoys life but when her mother turns up dead, her stalker has been released from prison and her drummer seems to not take the hit she's fine when her manager hires a bodyguard. But could he hire someone a little older or a little less easy on the eyes? It's not long before Jane and Jason have to be one step ahead of a killer who seems to have ties to Jane's past. Will Jason be able to save the one woman he will ever care for?

This was a fast-paced read but it may be a bit overwhelming for some readers due to the various elements introduced. If I have only one complaint it's the nicknames that Janey comes up with for Jason. At first it was sweet but at the end it was getting to be a bit much. Still Ms. Gerard has penned another fine addition to her bodyguard series. I eagerly look forward to the next in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!!!, Jun 6 2006

Cindy Gerard really hits the mark with her latest in The Bodyguard series.

When Jason "Plowboy" Wilson finds himself earning money to get beat up on live television, he realizes that it's time to take control of his life. After five years in Iraq, his dream of becoming a police officer is gone due to hearing loss. He decides to call his old squad leader, Nolan Garrett, who had helped him out before. Nolan immediately offers him a position with E.D.E.N. and Jase soon finds himself on his first assignment. It doesn't matter to Jase that he's the "bodyguard" to a (seemingly) spoiled rock and roll star. He won't let Nolan down after taking a chance on him.

Sweet Baby Jane (Janey) Perkins is incredulous when she sees who her manager wants to be in charge of security. To Janey, he doesn't look a day over 18. Jase and Janey both soon realize that their first impression of the other are as far from the truth as possible. Far from being a spoiled and rich rocker, Janey is a down-to-earth girl who got a break at an early age and is doing something she loves. Janey knows Jase is a hero and has every confidence that he can protect her.

I don't want to give the mystery away, so here is a brief description. :) After people start dying, Janey and Jase realize that things aren't always what they seem. What they would assume is Janey's stalker being more bold might be something more sinister. There are many people in Janey's life that would like to see her hurt and/or dead. I didn't figure out the mystery until the page before it was revealed.

Enjoy this next installment in The Bodyguard series!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this series!!, Jun 4 2006
By Melissa "Mimmi" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Over the Line (Mass Market Paperback)
Cindy Gerard has once again delivered, in what I'm thinking is her best to date. When Jason "Plowboy" Wilson hits rock bottom, he turns to his good buddy Nolan Garrett to take a job offer at E.D.E.N. he'd previously turned down. His first assignment is to gaurd the wildly poplular "Baby Jane"--a rock star!! Jase quickly figures out that there is much more to the petite Jane than you could ever guess--and that she is capable of keeping it together, even when there are people dying, bird hearts are being left for her, and she's being stalked...He's impressed, and reluctantly attracted. For Jane, who has spent the last two years celibate after being hurt, Jase's HOT body, baby blue eyes, and gentle way of handling her are too much too resist--and although he's trying to keep her strictly in the "job" category, she's made up her mind she wants more...The suspense is tight, and will have you guessing all over the place. The romance is sexy and sweet, and the love scenes HOT. There is nothing else you could ask for--except for the next story to hurry along!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Over the Top, Jun 24 2006
By Leah Lane - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Over the Line (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoy reading Cindy Gerard's "Bodygurard" series and I eagerly devoured this latest offering. Although it wasn't quite up to par as the previou books in the series, nevertheless, it was still a thrill ride.

I winched at the silly nicknames for Jason, especially "Plowboy" (dreadful) and "Opie" (equally dreadful). I also found it hard to grasp that Janey's fast lane lifestyle hadn't rubbed off on her one iota. And especially, I really wished the author hadn't written a stereotypical portrayl of Iowans. I cringed when I read this. I'm not saying there aren't farms in Iowa, I'm saying not all of us Iowans wear overalls, have cornfields for backyards, live in a town resembling something out of "Happy Days" or know the first thing about farming. I could have done without the stereotype. Who the villain was and their justifications/motivations for what they did was really lame as well.

However, Cindy has a way with dialogue that keeps a reader turning the pages. It's good, just not as great as To The Brink and the other books in the series.
