This film fits very easily into the romantic comedy genre, but there are some movies that transcend the mundane limits of their sphere. This film is light and silly and sweet and frothy, true, but it is also well-fleshed out, the characters are more interesting and realistically drawn than in the traditional vein and the ride is quite enjoyable. Goldie Hawn plays a rich bitch who is bored, spoiled and selfish. Kurt Russell plays a widowed, single father struggling to feed and tame his unruly sons. He is a carpenter hired by Goldie to make closet space on her yacht. She is unsatisfied with his finished product and refuses to pay him. Kurt eventually hatches a plot to recoup his losses and wreak revenge on Goldie and that's when the fun begins. I thought the movie was delightful. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel play their roles well and make a good acting team; their real-life partnership shows on the screen. If you're looking for something deep, go rent "The Lives of Others" (a brilliant film, by the way), but if you're looking for something light and fun, see this movie.
