VIDEO:
Lady Antebellum’s 2012 Own The Night World Tour arrives at blu ray with MPEG-4 AVC 1080p 1.78:1 encode. The concert was filmed during their final show of the North American leg in Little Rock, Arkansas. There were 12 songs in this concert, interspersed with footage behind their entire tour. The concert footage was very well done, with great details on close-ups. You can clearly identity the tattoo pattern on Charles Kelley’s left upper arm, plus hairs on his chest. The colours are generally subdued, except the red piano and guitar that Dave Haywood was playing on. The quality of the footage between songs is variable, but still pleasing. (4/5)
AUDIO:
Lady Antebellum’s Own The Night World Tour kicks off with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio. The quality of the audio is much better than the video. The singing harmony between Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley is clearly defined. Dave Haywood’s guitar and piano play was excellent. Dialogue was clearly heard. Surprisingly there was very little screaming noise from fans, so that one can clearly appreciates the group’s singing and the tight sound of the band. The drum beat of Chris Tyrrell (Hillary Scott’s husband) is simply outstanding. Overall, great sound. (4.5/5)
CONTENTS:
I enjoyed the footage between songs, which gave me lots of insights about the band. All the songs are beautifully performed with lots of fan participation and sing-along. Charles Kelley’s voice was simply outstanding, especially his solo portion in the song Hello World. Before each concert, all the band members will put their hands out, one on top of each other, with Hillary Scott’s hand last on top. She jokingly said that what was said during that gathering just before the show started was totally “inappropriate and could not be repeated”. (Ha Ha) I also learned that it took a little time to choose the right “Red” colour for the piano…the final red colour was Red 12. The group at one point was singing Good Life, song by OneRepublic, with later Ryan Tedder actually jumping up on stage to sing the song. After the sold out show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the band members and friends were jamming. The drum off between Eric Stonestreet (from Modern Family) and Chris Tyrrell, Hilliary’s husband, punishing an inverted garbage bin, was hilarious. From the various footage, we also learned how close Lady Antebellum was to their fans. One female fan actually tattooed 14 on her wrist (just like Hillary Scott), while a male fan tattooed all the words that Charles Kelley has on his right forearm onto his arm too. In Europe, Charles Kelley mentioned that fans there knew the words to songs that were not singles…a true fan! Overall, the entire concert with the footage was very enjoyable. Good job, Eagle Rock! (concert: 5/5)

I also learned that Charles Kelley had a video of him singing a Hootie & The Blowfish song when he was only 13. Later, he had this video sent to Darius Rucker who was the lead singer for Hootie & The Blowfish. Darius Rucker of course became a C&W superstar. Amazingly, they became good friends and even toured together. Darius Rucker’s singing in Black Water was another highlight.
PACKAGING:
There is a nice booklet with beautiful pictures of the lead members, and details about the concert.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I love Lady Antebellum. I find that successful artists usually care for and look after their fans, like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. Lady Antebellum is no exception. This concert contains songs from their three albums released so far, and therefore very updated. The entire concert is very enjoyable from beginning to end. If you are a line dance fan, you will also recognize their mega-hit Need You Now as the name to a line dance “Quarter To One”. The price is also very reasonable and definitely is highly recommended. So don’t hesitate…I Need You Now to order…you won’t regret!
I hope the above review is helpful to you.
