Book Description

How people can move beyond victimization to overcome obstacles, accept responsibility, and rise to new heights of achievement.

"I didn't have enough time." "It's not in my job description." Many people and organizations have recognized the need to move away from this type of "blame game" and toward greater personal accountability at work, but few have known how to foster or maintain it--until The Oz Principle.

Now in paperback, The Oz Principle explores how people in business suffer from the same feelings of anxiety and helplessness that beset the characters in The Wizard of Oz. Through a broad mix of examples and stories, this book examines how people use their victimization to justify inaction, excuse ineffectiveness, or rationalize poor performance. It shows how they can break through "above the line" with an attitude of accountability that empowers them to overcome problems, excuses and biases to achieve the results they want. Self-assessment charts and quizzes enable readers to chart their own path to personal empowerment and enhanced company performance. Working through this book is a true journey of discovery, the discovery that, just as in The Wizard of Oz, the real Wizard lives within each of us.

By A Customer
This review is from: Oz Principle (Mass Market Paperback)
"We tried for several years to make some basic changes in our Global Manufacturing Group and just couldn't get there. We finally internalized the concept of the accountability process as defined in The Oz Principle. It has really turned us around in the direction we wanted and we're now making the progress we've been trying to make for years."

5.0 out of 5 stars Managerial Effectiveness, Oct 27 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Oz Principle (Mass Market Paperback)
"The Oz Principle has really made accountability very easy to understand and has improved our effectiveness in obvious ways. Our entire organization has not only embraced the concept, but has also made it our culture to operate Above The Line. Most importantly, The Oz Principle made it very easy for a new representative joining the organization to quickly understand what Pfizer Pratt Pharmaceuticals is all about, both in terms of our culture and how we operate as a group."

5.0 out of 5 stars Accountability all around, Oct 22 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Oz Principle (Mass Market Paperback)
"All year long we struggled to show some increase in store sales with no real success. However, after applying The Oz Principle Accountability Training, store sales climbed and continued to climb for the next eleven weeks thereafter. Numerous obstacles presented themselves throughout the year, but the team remained 'Above The Line' and nailed our year-end budget."

--Kenneth White
Regional Vice President
Smith's Food and Drug
