The cost of electricity is soaring but you can help reduce your energy costs with the new Kill A Watt EZ. Simply plug it into a wall socket and then plug in your appliance to assess how efficient they really are. The large LCD will display the power consumption by the kilowatt-hour and the built-in memory retains accumulated readings when power is interrupted.
Program in your local utility rate and display projected costs by hour, day, week, month or year. Evaluate the quality of the electrical power provided from your utility company by monitoring voltage (Volt), line frequency (Hz), and power factor (VA). Perfect for detecting voltage drops and brownout conditions before they damage delicate equipment. The knowledge you gain from Kill A Watt EZ can save you thousands of dollars.
List of Contents: Kill A Watt EZ electricity usage monitor, instruction manual, full manufacturer's direct warranty

Very cool!,

This is just what I was looking for. I wanted an inexpensive meter that would give me the wattage consumed by household devices so I could know what type of devices I could take on a road trip. This measures many different things - voltage, wattage, amps, kilowatt hours, etc. that can come in handy and oodles of things that I would never use/don't know what they are. I only have a couple beefs about it (very trivial beefs, I must admit): 1. The device uses up both outlets on the wall plug, so you can't have anything else plugged into the same wall outlet. 2. The display can be hard to read - there's no backlight (that I can see) and you will most likely have to get down on the floor to read the display. Everything else is awesome - I'm very happy!

KILL A WATT,

I agree with the previous review. I am very happy with the product, but because it is very hard to read when plugged in it would be nice if it maintained display power for a minute or so after unplugging to allow the info to be viewed at a more convenient position.

great working item, BUT, the display needs to be back lit, the LCD display words are far too small to see easily. This item is great from it's design of purpose point of view. I discovered our 55" plasma uses twice the electricity in Vivid mode than Standard mode in the picture settings. So that is a 300 watt saving per hour of use, or .3 kilowatts, at $0.11 per kilowatt, and that TV stays on 7 hours per day, so that is a $83 per year saving on one item alone. So this new setting over the next 10 years save $830, so the P# paid for itself big time, and when I'm done the whole house, I estimate I will have about a $150-$200 per year saving if not more by changing electrical hogs to efficient products.
