About the Author
Raul A. Barreneche has worked at Architecture magazine as executive editor and is the author of Rizzoli's Tropical Modern and co-author of Universe's House: American Houses for a New Century. He is a contributing editor to Metropolitan Home, Architectural Record, and Travel + Leisure and also has written for House Beautiful, Dwell, Interior Design, and the New York Times.

No need for a long-winded review - the book is full of unique, well designed modern houses.It has a good mix of images and drawings, for the most part, so the projects are easy to understand and reference. My only complaint is that the title perhaps suggests a geographical region that is not explored in the book. There are no Pacific North American projects - it is strictly Australia/NZ and the rest of the Pacific Rim, which is fine.....maybe the focus of the next book ?

We purchased this book as a reference for clients building new homes. We are based in Australia and have seen these photos before...our clients hadn't so it was still very useful. Clear and with floorplans shows how space and light work well.

It is a great collection of modern architecture, it is wonderful to see such examples throught the world. Since I know the author personally, I love to see how his second book is even better than the first.
