From Library Journal
Pacific Rim is written by a Time correspondent and participant in the magazine's "Newstour '85: Pacific Rim." Aikman sketches the development of and contrasts between North and South Korea; social liberalization and business opportunities in China; the future of Hong Kong and Taiwan; the end of Marcos rule in the Philippines; the economic, political, and social struggles of Vietnam since reunification; and the pivotal role of Thailand in Southeast Asia. The opinions and conclusions, particularly attentive to the role and potential of U.S. business investment, are generally interesting and informative. This modest and modestly priced survey is appropriate for its intended audience, business people and general readers. Kenneth W. Berger, Duke Univ. Lib., Durham, N.C.
