Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! A MUST HAVE! I couldnt wait to implement these invaluable recommendations! Jamie proves just what NATURAL husbandry should be!!! You wont believe the transformation in your horses attitude, health and his body composition - not to mention those incredible feet. This book proves that you dont need 100's of acres to achieve the most wonderful world your horse will ever experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended! This book is always on my mind., May 27 2011
This review is from: Paddock Paradise: A Guide to Natural Horse Boarding (Paperback)
Of the slew of books in my library of horse-related books this is the one that is on my mind the most! If you're open-minded to new ideas about the ways of keeping horses you need to read this book. It's an easy read with great ideas and pictures to explain how you can set up this method of horse keeping on most any size of property. Just Google-search "Paddock Paradise" sometime to find all kinds of examples and wonderful comments on the success people have had with the method that is well-explained in this book. But first, you'll need to read this book so you'll know the details behind what people are doing and why they work so well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ingenious and refreshing, Sep 5 2007
By Mern "Mern" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Paddock Paradise: A Guide to Natural Horse Boarding (Paperback)
A whole new way for the average person with a bit of land and a drive to practice optimal husbandry to create a stimulating world for their horses, to their health and deep contentment.

The difference between Jackson's approach and the usual fenced acreage is like the difference between an animal safari park and an old-fashioned bars-and-walls zoo. Creating physical, social, and ideally even emotional environments in which animals can believe they're in their primordial setup yields fascinating results when applied to horses.

Clearly and enthusiastically written--you will admire the author's creativity and sense of applied fun. Contains imagination-provoking diagrams and encourages you to improvise to accomodate your circumstances, geography, and herd composition. Highly recommended.

Very helpful for anyone who wonders even slightly about paddock paradise.
People who want to know why paddock paradise is good for our horses and also for people who already decided on paddock paradise and just want to know how to start. But also for people who have never heard of it and bump in to the book, or as a present for someone with a horse or more.

Doesn't matter how much acre you have, 1 or 100, as long as you love your horses and want the healthiest lifestyle for them. Competition horses, trail horses or just meadow buddies.

This book explains how Jamie Jackson got the idea for a revolutionary way of horse keeping, one that is not only easier to maintain, but most important healthier for your horse! Better hoofs (barefoot), much less risk for founder, and fitter horses just because they want to keep moving like wild horses. No more cribbing and weaving because the horses are simply never bored. All in easy to follow guidelines in this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars If you know to look for this book, you probably don't need it, Oct 6 2008
By Kathryn M. Austin "Kat" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Paddock Paradise: A Guide to Natural Horse Boarding (Paperback)
Don't get me wrong, I like the ideas presented in this book and intend to implement at least some of them when I set up my farm. But if you've read about Paddock Paradise on a website or in another book or have even been told about the general idea - save your money. It's interesting to learn about how Jackson came up with the idea and some of his suggestions I imagine will be helpful, but he admits in the book that there is very little data to support the ideas at the time he wrote it.

Personally I think he should have promotted his website more and waited to write the book until sufficient data was collected.

Oh, and I find his writing style pretentious and annoyingly academic at times. Just say what you mean, dude! Don't pick your words to make yourself sound smart and fancy!
