Great Fry Pan,

I have seen these fry pans advertised before but they were so expensive I didn't purchase them. When I saw these reduced prices on Amazon.ca, I decided to try them, because of my concerns regarding the dangerous chemicals used in traditional non-stick fry pans.They aren't the prettiest, but they sure work well. They heat up quickly, and all I have ever had to do to clean them is hot water, soap and a dish cloth... even when food residue appears to be burned on ... extremely easy. I try not tu use fats/oils when cooking, and I fried an egg with nothing in the pan. (The instructions say NOT to use cooking spray, like Pam). The egg came out perfectly. I am pleased.

These pans are wonderful when you first buy them. What a great thing to find a pan that is non-stick but does not have any chemicals!They come complete with instructions for use. I followed ALL the instructions but I still have a pan I can't use anymore after only 1 1/2 months. After using this just a short time it began to stain and food sticks. They become harder to clean than the worst pan you've ever owned! The staining is actually food you can't get off. Contacting Paderno doesn't help. They just tell you to clean it. And that's impossible. Despite soaking the pan for several hours, the stained coating inside the pan does not come off.

I too was initially delighted with my Ecopan, purchased because I wanted a pan free of dangerous chemicals. After a few months I found that it was marked and I couldn't remove the marks, and food was beginning to stick to the pan. At that point, I suspect I did the unforgivable and used a spray, not realizing I wasn't supposed to. The pan continued to deteriorate, so I contacted Paderno. They were extremely helpful and replaced the pan. I was diligent in following the instructions with the new pan--never washed it in the dishwasher, always washed it with soap and a cloth, always used plastic utensils, no spray--to no avail. The same thing happened again. I still use the pan, but it's very badly marked, and I always have to use oil in it. I'm reluctant to contact Paderno for another replacement . . . I can't imagine why I wouldn't have the same problem again. Very disappointing.
