4.0 out of 5 stars I'm only a novice cook but I like this set Nov. 11 2011
This is the first set of pots I have ever purchased. The ones I'd been using prior to this were from my "poor student" days - all odds and ends hand me downs from various family members. My cooking skills had improved somewhat since those university days so I felt ready to invest in a nice, basic but good quality set of pots.

I shopped around and did a lot of research and it had my head spinning with all the different technical details (e.g. clad, ply, 18/10) and the huge variety of brands. I finally settled on the Paderno brand because 1. It's Canadian - always great when I can support local companies. 2. Reviews on their products are generally very good.

I've been using this set for several months now, so I'm ready to share a review on the set. Keep in mind that I'm only a novice cook so I am no expert!

1. It's very nice looking. I really like the look of the chunky, round handles on the pots and the lids.
2. It just plain *feels* like it's good quality - they are quite hefty in weight and everything feels nice and solid. The rivet method of attaching handles feels very secure and does not feel like it will ever loosen.
3. Easier to clean than my old, crappy pots. Perhaps all good quality pots are like this - food is less likely to stick and burn to the pot so it's easier to scrub them off. I also find that the shiny surface on the outside has stayed beautifully glossy and discoloration-free, despite some rough scrubbing.
4. Only has pots in the set. I find pans quite useless because I already have a great cast iron pan. I also did not need extras like steamer trays, pasta inserts, etc. So, I really liked this particular set because it only had what I needed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great price for a great set Feb. 19 2012
By Cdnmom
I have had this set for a little over a month and have been very happy with it. I had wanted Paderno pots for years and had been watching prices, so when this great deal came up I couldn't pass, give it was approximately the price of one pot! I love the feel of the pots, very comfortable handles and sturdy feeling. The handles do not get hot. The lids are stainless, and I was fearful I would miss my glass lids, but I haven't for a moment. These pots really do cook SO much faster than my old ones...I would say a pot of water takes half the amount of time to boil. Also love that they are dishwasher safe and made in Canada! My only complaint with these pots is how quickly the inside disclosured. I will likely contact Paderno to see if this is normal. Also wanted to add that this has been an ideal set for me....I will likely add a small stock pot but other than that, I don't regret buying a larger (or smaller!) set as all pieces are frequently used.

3.0 out of 5 stars Much better deal than Costco 11-PC June 15 2012

Good product, worth it & if you're lucky you might even catch a winter price drop here as well (saving 70-80 dollars.)

I got this 8-piece set from Amazon after Costco sent me the wrong 11-piece set - costco.ca shows the old picture on the website, but the new set has a cheap steamer tray sneakily replacing the beautiful 4 liter saute pan they recently had in 5-layer metal. I WANTED that nice solid saute pan, so I'm happy to swap and go without the cheap steel steamer and the 10" non-stick pan. An aside: not smart for Paderno to change (and vicariously mis-represent in image) the 11-pc cook set on a major re-seller's website - it's a short road to Chinese factory production nowadays, so better work on those customer relations!

Now - about the 8-piece which is (for now) still Made in PEI, Canada... I was fairly pleased with the set that arrived, already familiar because it's an abbreviated 11-piece set without the 3 most non-essential toss-ins: steamer with it's own size lid that fits nothing else (what were they thinking?) and fry pan (I don't need a medium no-stick pan, let alone in 5-ply.) Currently 100 dollars cheaper than Costco for what you really need.

Pot sizes are usable though they look smallish, and the large saucepan could have slightly taller sides. It's still a great starter set with those three sizes, and the dutch oven appears quite usable for stews, pasta, or any type of boiling or stove-to-oven braising. It covers a range!

I feel the lids are a bit cheap and light, but them you're not paying for AllClad here, or even ScanPan which are better-made equivalents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great set for everyday use June 21 2012

After a pretty long search for a reasonably priced made in North America pot set I have discovered the Paderno Fusion Cookware. I decided to go ahead and buy it. And I am very happy with that decision. The set looks and feels like a high quality cookware. I cooked basmati rice in it and it came out just perfect. The pot bottoms are perfectly flat which is important for my glass-top range. And my wife is very happy that it can be cleaned in dishwasher (unlike my Calphalon One set)
I would highly recommend it to anybody.
