Absolutely Fantastic,
By Simone in OZ (melbourne, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pages for You: A Novel (Paperback)
I loved this book so much, after i read it, i couldnt go into my room without picking it up and flicking through it, catching scattered sentences that threw me once more back into the ever absorbing story. Perhaps its my empathy with the theme, or the ease in which i can relate to the characters and their feelings, but the way the book is written, the development of the central figures as they discover each other captured me totally. The quirky and witty conversations and discussions, as well as the settings and descriptions makes this book much more than a soppy love story. Give this book a read! you wont regret it.

I would have loved to have given this book 5 stars, as it's images lingered and inspired me for days. However, it is not a literary classic in any sense. That being said, it is a passionate, youthful, nostalgic tale that is inventively and lovingly told. Anyone who has felt the fire of a white-hot intense first love affair (which always go awry) will be transported into the mind and heart of Flannery. You know how delicious every new "first" can be, and these are beautifully captured and explored. You also know, with bittersweet wisdom, that the young woman will ultimately not have a happy ending with her older lover and teacher, despite their wonderfully told passion for each other. Yet knowing this does not take away from the story in any way. This reads much like a 3 act play, and act 2 is gorgeously erotic without having to resort to any graphic ... descriptions. Refreshing. A lovely tale, worth reading, and re-reading.

I love this book it was a very good I couldn't put it down. Their was some stuff that was like wow you know it was just a great book. I think everyone needs to read this so everyone know what it's like. The characters take you on this ride of emotions and it doesn't stop until the end that's all I have to say. I think if people read this book then they would kinda think before they act I'm not saying anything bad or anything but can we think before we judge thanks.
