Lee Hammond writes art books that are very easy to understand and follow. I have this one and one on acrylic painting- general subjects. In this one she goes over the different elements in a landscape and takes you through each step by step, then there are several landscapes at the end to show you how to put all this together and use. It is a very useful book.

Lee Hammond does a great job of covering the basic information on not only how to paint but on all the products acrylic painters will use. She breaks down painting different elements of painting in a way that makes it easier to create your landscapes or you can follow the series of pictures in recreating the landscapes in the book. I can't fully express my happiness with this book. The pictures are stunning, the artist's style is fantastic and she's not afraid to use some bright, vibrant colors. The step by step lessons are also extremely helpful and she takes the time to explain, in detail, how shadowing works and how to create a well-balanced painting. If I had to find fault with the book, it would be that she sometimes seems to skip steps, but I actually like this because it gives me the chance to figure out how she created the look or to create one of my own.
