I found the collection to be a thorough visual representation of the works of this group. An artist myself the quality of printing matters and this was done well.

My wife and I had been to the McMichael exhibition and the shop there had run out of catalogues - it's a nice memento of a wonderful collection.

A new look at the Group of Seven Feb. 9 2012
By Map Hero - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Several books have been compiled over the years that give tribute (and serious study) to the Group of Seven painters. This NEW book (essays and a catalogue of a contemporary traveling exhibition) is outstanding ... featuring favorite works and MANY lesser known works. Especially pleasing are the pairings of oil sketches (plein air) with the resulting (much larger) studio works ... on the same spread. Nice!

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in either the Group of Seven or in the spirit of plein air painting and resulting studio efforts.

Beautiful Plates and Interesting, Readable Text Jan. 10 2013
By Lloyd D. Stowe - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Frequently I purchase art books and find the text stilted or boring and not enough large prints. This book has many full page works and text references to them, in addition to smaller reproductions throughout the text to make it easy on hte reader. Also, the group of seven's work was varied, so that was interesting to me who had only recently discovered them.
