3.0 out of 5 stars good compact, a bit fiddly July 25 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
A nice waterproof, robust-looking compact. Bought to take pix while kayaking (slim profile--fits in a vest pocket) and not have a bulky camera in a bag or box. Was disappointed by image quality for landscapes: trees etc all smudged, even at ISO 100--my iPhone 4S gave much better detail! I guess mostly good for close-up and people shots. Also wanted this for the GPS features. Pretty handy, but menu optinos and messages are fiddly and annoying. Again, makes me appreciate my other device even more. A good value when on discount. But for full-size detailed prints, better to get another camera in a waterproof casing.

1.0 out of 5 stars CAMERA LEAKED 1ST TIME ON SNORKELLING TRIP!!! Jan 13 2013
By JAMES
We bought this camera after much research for a 2 week snorkeling trip Jan. 2013 in BONAIRE.
I had read several reviews about this camera ruining people's vacations by leaking the first time in the ocean.
I foolishly trusted that Panasonic had fixed the problem...
To our horror, the camera leaked the first few seconds in the water!!!
We missed many great shots & ended up renting a camera for 2 days to at least have some photos to bring home.
Test every camera as the dive camera rental shops do...submerge in water... if more that the smallest bubble comes out... seals have failed!

I will not trust any underwater camera...protective housings are the way to go!
Store kindly refunded our money but that doesn't bring our missed photos back,
thanks Panasonic for a camera that should be pulled from the market!

1.0 out of 5 stars brentev April 24 2013
Got this camera as a gift to use snorkeling, canoeing, etc - wherever it might get wet. Took it to Hawaii in Feb this year (2013) and within 15 seconds of having it in the water while snorkeling it leaked! Can't believe Panasonic put this turkey on the market. My wife's Canon D10 performed perfectly in the same conditions and am now looking to replace it with a Canon. Avoid this camera!
