Pressed Sandwich Delight of A Cookbook!, Nov 15 2008
By rodboomboom - Published on Amazon.com
40 Recipe collection of the Panini craze that lots of us are caught up in. This excellent little on size but big on originality and flavor recipe collection provides us with inspirational array of new ones to try.
It begins with writeup on what panini is, how to shop for bread, fillings, drinks to serve with, equipment to use, etc. Then the recipes. They are organized into 5 categories, mainly centered around the main star, i.e. veggie, poultry, seafood, meat and finally desserts.
There is some truly fun and exciting ones to try here, e.g. Rustic Turkey with Brie & Apples; Turkey Meatloaf with Spicy Tomato Sauce; Grilled Salmon with Chipotle Aoli; Eggs & Bacon Breakfast Sandwich.
The most exciting for me, however, are the dessert entrees, which basically have one pressing the bread, then serving with fruit, ice cream, sauce, etc. The bread here is creative, e.g. Sweet Challah bread with Chocolate and Hazelnut and bananas and Frangelico, or the likes of Peach Melba with pound cake and traditional melba stars.
This is excellently produced cookbook, with gorgeous color, full-page photos and clear ingredient lists, instructions and hints. There is also an accompaniment "companion recipe" section for homemade potato chips, sweet potato wedges, aioli, etc, as well as a nice glossary and index.
Nice additon for the beginning or into-it panini'er.

Good recipes, but a little over the top..., Dec 2 2009

There are some great recipes in here, but some of them are ones I would never make. For example, the chapter on seafood. I don't really want a fish panini! The classic recipes are in here and still good, but there are a lot of fancy ones!
