Cherry blossoms, forsythia, marigolds, and petunias: Who would have imagined you could recreate such gorgeous blooms with just paper and craft punches? You can—and this accessible new craft will appeal to anyone with a creative bent. Using her own original, unique techniques, Susan Tierney Cockburn offers 40 beloved flowers to make for decorating gifts and home décor. She teaches the simple basics, including paper manipulation, gluing, and coloring, and presents her flowers as colorfully as they’re found in nature. From A (Amaryllis) to Z (Zinnia), there’s a bountiful bouquet of blooms to choose from! Photographs document every step, and a visual template of the punches accompanies each flower. A dozen sample projects range from picture frames to wreaths.

There is no complete list of the punches required, although pages 124-125 states that "the multi-part punches and theme
punches used in this book are shown below in their entirety". However, if you review each flower, they require additional punches
in mini, small, medium and large sizes for snowflakes, suns, leaves, ovoid petals etc. I just realized how expensive this
may get, however, the good part is, you can use scissors and paper, and photocopy the pages to create patterns. No need for a
$30 mega giant punch for 5 large leaves, just use scissors, yay! Like my artistic grandmother, I will find a way. It is a lovely
book and teaches the steps, and we can apply the techniques to many papers and any size we wish. The basics are here, with glue,
scissors, markers and techniques. It will be done, my way.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many punches Mar 19 2010
Format:Paperback
The book is beautiful and has a million flowers I'd love to try, but it involves purchasing hundreds of dollars in punches. I guess I should have assumed that, but was hoping for a book that would direct me on how to use common punches creatively instead of searching out specialty punches and investing a ton of money.
Author is very talented, but I would suggest getting the book from the library, or perusing it at Chapters instead of buying it.
