Book Description

April 10 2012
Announcing the biggest, best, most innovative book ever on paper craft. Even better, this is not about how to use costly, artsy paper, but how to turn stuff around the house—magazines and shopping bags, candy wrappers and paint sample cards, wrapping paper, old maps, and paper towel tubes—into stunning jewelry, gifts, home décor, party favors, and much more.

Chances are you’ve seen the author’s cutting-edge work in the windows of Anthropologie, where she is the chain’s merchandising manager. An inveterate crafter who creates projects and styles photo shoots for magazines like Parents and Vogue Knitting, Kayte Terry takes the most versatile of materials and the most basic of crafts (remember snipping valentines out of construction paper?), and creates something completely trans- formative. Turn a sheaf of any white or graph paper into an amazing Scrap Happy Globe Lantern for the dining room. Fashion colored tissue paper into Songbird Votives, leftover raffle tickets into a Prizewinning Bowl, that out-dated pile of holiday catalogs into a picture frame. There’s a necklace made of playing cards, a gum wrapper bracelet, and barrettes made by quilling—a paper technique that goes back to the Renaissance. Every project is photographed in full color, and includes step-by-step illustrations and instructions. Truly a book that shows how to think outside the (cardboard) box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tons of appealing projects with great directions! May 14 2012

Finally, a craft book that has the coveted combination of inspiring projects that you actually want to make, plus clear, well-illustrated directions that mean you will actually finish a lovely creation and not quit half-way in tears of frustration.

This book is filled with tons of engaging ideas for things I would love to have and to gift. So often, craft books have a paltry 25 projects that are mostly fluff except for the 5 really good ones that inspired the book in the first place. But Paper Made has dozens, from the classic (Modern Fete Silhouette Chandelier) to the whimsical (Give Me an E! Letter) to the timeless (Family Portraits), and so many more. Each project is accompanied by wonderful step-by-step illustrations that easy to follow and very clear. Plus, the photos are super cute, and decently big so you can actually see all the little details.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of amazing projects! May 19 2012
By Jennifer Sturiale - Published on Amazon.com

I've been crafting for years, and am often underwhelmed by the projects in craft books -- which is why I'm so thrilled with this one! Paper Made is full of ideas for super cool projects I'm actually going to make, for my own home and to give as gifts. The instructions are clear and concise, which as any crafter knows, is the most important part of any good craft book. And I love that we're talking about paper as the main material-- it's easy to keep projects eco-friendly with paper! Eco-friendly and super-chic are a fab combo.

I highly recommend Paper Made as a quality addition to any craft-book collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, Eco-Chic Craft Book May 14 2012
By Patricia Sechi - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I just got Papermade and I have to say I love everything about it. The projects are ones that I would actually do -- and to make things I would actually use! The book design is great and the illustrations, photos and instructions that accompany each craft are the best I have ever seen; so easy to follow. I thought I was sort of crafty, but Kayte Terry takes the grand prize, with such cleverly named projects such as, Pulp Fiction Bowls, Not Exactly A Full Deck Lampshade and Paper Trail Earrings. So gather your crafty, environmentally-friendly pals and craft away!
