A sequel (in reality a prequel) that actually manages to maintain and be faithful to the mood set in the first film. Once again it is the humour that really works well and stood out for me. The light-hearted family moments that are such a common experience really draw you into the characters world and makes what happens to them all the more unnerving. Also as in the first, it helps not having well known actors involved to make the experience seem more authentic. And the story and characters from the first film are not only tied in to this story in an interesting way, but also much from the first film is explained and elaborated on. The suspense is unbearable, and the director manages to create enough eerie atmosphere and apprehension to terrify the audience even when you know a bit of what to expect going in. It is so effective in a minimalist way, that something as simple as a door closing will send chills down your spine. I would follow the advice on the cover and prepare yourself for a few sleepless night.
