Book Description

Nov. 7 2002
This examination of the evolving role of private security firms in the context of public and community policing focuses on the new concept of the parapolice. Revealed are the truths and misconceptions about private security guards and how these guards can be a viable resource in the protection of urban society. The role of police in society, which is to prevent crime and save lives, is examined and contrasted with the evolving role of the parapolice as modern "pseudo-cops"-men and women who prevent crime and save lives without guns and political intervention. Also addressed is how unions are destroying public policing, the corporate culture of the parapolice, and funding of the parapolice.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Joke Feb. 1 2006
By Mark Thomas - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Intelligarde has a horrible reputation as a security company and it is unfortunate that they have resorted to lying to the general public. This book is a glorification of a company that should be ashamed of itself. All one needs to do in order to measure the validity of the book, is to drive down to their headquarters and look at the poor condition of their building.

Let the real police do their job and stay out of the way:) I recommend that you refrain from buying this book, as it is fiction and nothing more.
