Format: DVD
(From back cover) Rutger Hauer stars as small-town detective Reardon, a once-disgraced policeman who is assigned to work on a high-profile kidnapping case reporting to a decorated FBI agent, Wallis (Paulina Porizkova), who as luck would have it, happens to be his ex-wife. The clues of the case lead nowhere and tensions mount, until a surprise break fingers a suspect - Reardon! As the victim's body is discovered, the hunter becomes the hunted and Reardon and Wallis must pull out all the stops to prove his innocence and find the real killer.
This is a better than average straight to video movie. The suspense is constant and the editing is above par. Of course Paulina looks better than ever and is starting to become quite an actress.

Once again, Rutger Hauer is made to look silly and typecast as a third-rate actor because he is foreshadowed by a woman who is a star and outshines him. Out of the 60-odd movies he was in, only 4 or 5 were outstanding, one of which is : Ladyhawke. Lucky for him, most of his movies had unknown co-stars in the first place. Unfortunately, he always comes on as a mentally-lazy, nonchalant live-and-let-live kind of guy. In this flic, the story is somewhat engaging and plausible for once. I think his career was made rotten by being typecast as a Medieval knight wearing leather and high boots in sword & horse epics. His great looks however always made him the hero to win in the end.

PROPHETIC TITLE May 4 2005
By Michael Butts - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
Lushly filmed in the state of Utah, PARTNERS IN CRIME is an above-average whodunit. Rutger Hauer gets to play the hero in a rare change of pace, and he is ably supported by Paulina Porizkova as his ex-wife FBI agent. They are re-united when a local wealthy businessman is apparently kidnapped---the viewer knows however that the man has already been shot, stuffed in the trunk of a car, and hidden away in an old storage shed...which just happens to be on Hauer's property. Adding to the mix is the rapport between Hauer and Porizkova and Sarah Ashley as his precocious and all too wise 13 year old daughter. Porizkova is lovely and Hauer gives a deft performance. Not bad for a little known film.

Terrible DVD Captions. Aug. 22 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: VHS Tape
I loved the film, and the DVD reproduction is excellent. But if you like, or depend on, captioning the DVD captions look like the work of a bad LA 'grass' party; or a high school project that received a failing grade! However, the VHS captions were the work of the NationalCaps Insti.and were excellent, as usual.
An opinion from Sacramento.
Murder in a Small town Oct. 13 2013

The local deputy starts to look like the guy who did it but his ex-wife now an FBI agent in charge of the case doesn't think so. Good acting, cast, and wonderful plot. A move you must see.
