A real treasure for any true pro-wrestling fanatic, Jun 16 2004
This review is from: Parts Unknown (Paperback)
Michael Holmes "gets" pro-wrestling. And he write amazing poems that reflect the many diverse aspects of prowrestling, from its atheleticism, to its crazy gimmicks, to its drug abuse, to its corny catchphrases, to its injuries, and everything in between. I cannot recommend this book enough. Any pro-wrestling fanatic will love its use of obscure wrestling history and jargon. It's just a joy to read. It would also make a great gift for any pro-wrestling fan. Get it!!

An original, strange, and wonderful look at pro-wrestling., April 28 2004
This review is from: Parts Unknown (Paperback)
I'm having a hard time deciding whether to talk about this book as a poetry book or as a book about professional wrestling. And thats...a good thing. How often does a book come along that so completely defies expectations? How often does a book come along that refuses to be plunked into any convenient category? I really enjoyed this book, both as a book of poetry and as a book about wrestling. The thing about poetry is that, in poetry, anything is possible. And in wrestling, never say never. This book captures both of those feelings. You might have to be a fan of wrestling to fully appreciate this book. Then again, you also have to open-minded about poetry. If you are, this is an original, strange, and fun little book.
