Book Description

Sept. 30 2005
If you are looking for inspiration for your patchwork and quilting, look no further! This beautifully illustrated book contains a wealth of innovative and adaptable patchwork creations for all seasons - from simple two-hour pieces to more intricate work. Bold, bright and beautiful, the 100 quilting projects range from contemporary purses and bags to a festive Advent calendar and sensational full size quilt designs. In addition to patchwork, you will find modern applique patterns such as hearts, stars and angels to decorate and customize each of the projects, which include wall hangings, cushion covers, bags, table runners and placemats, and vary in size and scope - from a couple of hours to a weekend or longer. Each project features actual-size templates, step by step instructions and useful piecing diagrams. Familiar quilting techniques are joined by some innovative ideas for sewing frayed edge seams, which are used on quilts, bags and cushions to striking effect. The real beauty of this book is the stunning Scandinavian-style designs by Lise Bergene, who's eye for colour and design shine through in every photograph. The result is not only an inspiration source book, but also a practical book of projects that every sewist will want to make - an invaluable book for any quilter looking for new, imaginative and inspirational patchwork designs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eminently approachable book on quilting April 6 2008
By K. Sanders - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I found this book homey, and much more approachable to the intimidated quilter [me!]than many of the books written in this country. (It was 1st published in Norway). I found it comfortable, and causual in approach--the author cheefully uses checks, plaids, calicos, and remnants from used clothes, encourages the making of "jags" (instead of "diamonds"), doesn't seem to worry about blocks, and offers a wide variety of smaller projects for the beginner. While you might want to have other books on hand for some of the techniques used (if you're a nervous Nellie like me), this book has a lot of usable projects. I (happily) have finished several!

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BOOK FOR INTERMEDIATE QUILTERS Feb. 12 2008
By K. Dillon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book would be good for intermediate level quilters although more skilled might appreciate some od the projects as well. I thought perhaps it might make a good gift or give good ideas to make as gifts for others.

I really enjoyed this book, has many small quick things to do and a bit different from the usual run of the mill.
