Excellent Resource,

Pathfinder continues to provide excellent material for DMs at reasonable prices here on Amazon. It's a great system and this book is absolutely filled to the brim with dozens upon dozens of creatures, both custom and nostalgic. When I saw the Froghemoth (which people may recognize from far back as an amazing module in I believe 2nd edition), I was truly impressed. Easily a must have book and well worth the price.

A path to enjoyable gaming,

Just a short review. This is a wonderful evolution to 3.5. Like all newer models, it has more bells and whistles, but it has also removed some extra weight in other places. It is a shapelier, curvier 3.5. One thing I strongly advise is to not stop with the rule book. The world of Golarion is a fantastic place. Take a look at some of the location guides, like Absalom, and also give one of the Adventure Paths a chance. I have found that the stories that are woven are of some of the highest caliber out there, but they are not just dungeon-crawls, so be warned. For what it is worth, this is how I compare Pathfinder to the new Wizard's world stuff: Through evolution, Pathfinder has the destiny of mankind ahead of it, while D&D has become the great ape. Choose the path you want to follow.

Not as good as it seems.,

When Pathfinder came out, it seemed great. It fixed problems in 3.5. It was an awesome, giant book filled with great stuff. It took my group playing a few campaigns into the 15+ levels before we realized its got some major problems. First, its all about power. Your characters careen into being powerful in a manner similar to a video game. While getting something cool at each level is great, it also means they stack up in power fast. With the addition to the Advanced Players Guide and the other new books, the options for building uber-characters just multiply. Yes, 3.5 did this, but not with so much gusto. This game is frustrating to DM, not fun at all once you get past about level 7, and in some ways its just broken. There is, for instance, an obvious 20 level cap on the game. There's no way Pathfinder can handle epic play. I have to give them some credit for fixing clunky rules in 3.5, and things like the new poison system, but overall its not a fun game to play. Our group has run four or five long campaigns in Pathfinder and we've gone back to 3.5 (with a house rules). My thought is World of Warcraft has killed DnD. 4th edition might as well be WoW. Pathfinder is getting close. For anyone thinking of getting this game, go back and look through 3.5, pick out the stuff you find fault with and either don't use it, or modify it to fit your tastes and keep on playing 3.5.
