About the Author

Angela Kilmartin is a convent-educated, ex-professional solo singer in London whose career was cut short by seven years of repeated urinary tract infections (UTIs) and candida from all the antibiotics. Now, completely recovered for thirty-five years, she teaches prevention and self-help. She knows it all from the grief, pain, pills, and hospitals to the loss of hope, faith, love, and career, and then revenge. She has toured the United States many times for shows and lectures and sings twice yearly here too. Angela begs women not to allow urological surgery for infections but to accept self-help as the main preventive answer. She discusses many medical conditions that cause cystitis and UTIs and need appropriate medical attention. Overall this brave woman has made millions of women well just through her books and media work.

This book has been SO very helpful to me. There is an action plan that explains how to minimize UTIs when symptoms first start appearing. The UTIs that I suffer from are serious and bloody and extremely painful. When I first tried the 'action plan' I really didn't think it would work. It did. It was like magic. Every time I get an infection now I reach for this book and follow the plan. It really minimizes pain and speeds up my recovery. I recommend this book to anyone who suffers from UTIs.

HASH(0xa744b504) out of 5 stars An Absolute Must For Any Cystitis Sufferer April 25 2007
By A. James - Published on
Format: Paperback
This is the Bible for the cystitis sufferer. Excellent tips and tools to help you deal with the discomfort and pain but most importantly to prevent infections from happening in the first place! I used to get UTI's every six months like clockwork but since I started following the instructions in this book I've taken control and know how to take better care of myself. Don't just keep suffering - do something about it and this is a great way to start.

HASH(0xa7487bd0) out of 5 stars Finally Cystitis free!!! Feb. 25 2014
By Customer - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
After a few months of constant attacks of cystitis, and trying so many products (and of course countless visits to doctors office) I am finally cystitis free, all thanks to this book! I am from middle eastern background who has also lived in the UK, so I have tried literally every herbal and pharmaceutical product available from different countries, I tried Uricol (a pharmaceutical product for cystitis and preventing cystitis in the East) some Persian herbal remedies, homoeopathic products, of course cranberry tablets, D-mannose, everything that was in the market. OF COURSE I also went on courses of antibiotics but nothing stopped my cystitis from coming back. Life was so miserable for the past few months.

Here is why like thousands of other women, I wasn't getting cured: I was not PREVENTING cystitis, in fact I didn't know it was possible, doctors never told me about it, curing the problem with antibiotics will only just weaken you immune system and lead to thrush and other issues, if you don't PREVENT the problem from happening, you will get cystitis like I did.

I wanted to write this review so that other people can also benefit from this book like I did, you really don't have to suffer from cystitis and the prevention is actually easy!

This book contains information about the only possible ways you can fight cystitis, whether its bacterial or non-bacterial. Stop the countless visits to hospitals because they will NOT tell you how to cure and prevent cystitis, they will just give you more medicine. Do yourselves a favour and READ THIS BOOK.

Angela introduces a bottle washing technique in her book which will prevent cystitis from occurring. She introduces critical hygiene principles and simple advices (who thought the cure for cystitis was actually SO SIMPLE?). Her bottle washing technique literally takes 1-2 minutes, and costs NOTHING. Your healing literally starts at your own house!. I feel so much happier and cleaner after following her simple hygiene techniques and after following it, my cystitis attacks have GONE! This is because by following the simple bottle washing methods and other advice, I HAVE PREVENTED cystitis at no cost and so can you!

The book starts with how to deal with an already existing attack, and then goes on to explain the preventive methods as well as what could be causing your attacks and much more information. It is an eye opening book on the subject and helps you realise the CORE causes of your problems which is really helpful in preventing the problems from happening.

Angela Kilmartin herself is an ex-cystitis sufferer, she has cured and prevented her own cystitis and then carried out much research for years and helped thousands of patients, she really knows what she is talking about and knows the subject so well. Both her experience, methods and knowledge of the area make her such a valuable asset to us women today, please take advantage of the available information out there and really HELP YOURSELF out of this miserable disease. Her techniques cost nothing and regardless of where you are in the world, YOU CAN FIGHT AND PREVENT CYSTITIS! Her book also contains information for children and men as well.

I don't only urge cystitis victims to read this book, but also doctors and nurses should read this book and save their patients from countless visits!. How on earth didn't they think/know about such simple preventive methods is beyond me.This information needs to be widely available and doctors really need to help their patients understand how to prevent this problem, rather than tell them to take more antibiotics or more cranberry juice (which has so much sugar and feeds thrush).

HASH(0xa744b4a4) out of 5 stars Very Informative Feb. 18 2010
By Nancy - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Having suffered from cystitis my entire life and only now that I am 38 figuring out that there is a name to this chronic problem, I am very relieved to know that it is not all in my mind and research has been done on the subject of interstitial cystitis. This book has answered a lot of my questions and some that I didn't know I had! I use it as a reference book and look up new facts whenever I am plagued by a new symptom or question. IC sufferers no longer have to live in the dark and suffer alone. They can educate themselves and feel confident in taking charge of their own health. I know I do! This book is the third book I have purchased on the subject of IC and I continue to educate myself as technology and research changes.

HASH(0xa741e7bc) out of 5 stars Just you dare! Aug. 16 2012

This book was helpful and informational but western medicine failed me for so long (this book is all western medicine) that I turned to a homeopathic/hollistic doctor which I highly recommend (do your research!). I was a sufferer of reoccurring UTI's for well over 10 years and no longer get them thanks to this type of doctor and the amazing diet and supplements he prescribed to me (not antibiotics!). My issue was mostly due to being over prescribed antibiotics and my unbalanced diet (too much sugar!). I cut out many bad things including sugar and processed foods and now eat natural, whole foods.

I know there are many different type of infections and reasons people get them and this book may be beneficial to some but homeopathy worked for me. And I'm so grateful because I really did not want to bring a 2 liter bottle with me to the bathroom to "bottle wash" every time I have to "open my bowels" or before and after intercourse. Bottle washing is an extreme personal hygiene method recommended in the book to prevent UTIs. "Just you dare" miss a bottle washing, she challenges, and you'll get a UTI.

In health, the body can fight off bacteria, it is not meant to be sterile.

HASH(0xa740e270) out of 5 stars Decent book for females, not males Dec 27 2012
By Ron Parker - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book is primarily a good sex and personal hygiene guide for females. Some of the information applies to men; little of it cannot be discovered through web research. The author finally focuses on cystitis in the last few pages
but the information provided is not especially profound. She mainly suggests testing for mycoplasma and ureaplasma and treating them with doxycycline. This is probably a good book for females but not males.
