a sweet story that pulls at your heart strings,
By
This review is from: Paulie (Widescreen/Full Screen) (DVD)
A wonderfully engaging story, well produced, and lovingly executed. What happens to Paulie throughout the tale happens to many birds the world over. People can be kind and they can be cruel. Too many birds are treated inhumanely when they don't behave the way we want, and many birds are blamed for things that aren't their fault. This film should make you think twice before taking on a creature that is long lived and is loving, intelligent companion, BUT only if you treat him/her properly. The acting by the main characters is impeccable, so convincing. I highly recommend it for all ages.

A Fun Movie,

This review is from: Paulie (Widescreen/Full Screen) (DVD)
This is a fun and funny movie that works on a number of levels. Both adults and kids can enjoy it. It has intereting, quirkey characters (both bird and human), good story telling, and good effects. Think of a non-animated "Finding Nemo" with birds. All my family loved it.

A Great Story for Children and Adults,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Paulie (Widescreen/Full Screen) (DVD)
Paulie is a timeless story for children and adults. Set in modern times with a parrot as lead character - with plenty of fun and smiles for all - - underneath it is really a fairytale story of overcoming challenges, well-meaning but hurtful parental intervention, loss, and a journey of search and becoming as one pursues one's heart truth. All of my friends' children love this film and watch it repeatedly. AND as someone trained in psychology and Carl Jung's work - I have suggested this often to clients who have found motivation to claim joy - and centering in their truth. My friend Peter, who was dying of Lung cancer watched this film repeatedly with his grandchildren and on his own, finding comfort in it and loving the laughter of his loved ones. Without giving any of this story away - YOU MUST EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF - The acting is great with short, wonderful performances by Geno Rowlands and Cheech Marin. The voice of Paulie the Parrot is award winning. The story moves right along as Paulie is in search for his lost friend. This is a great film to have on hand - whether for children, grandchildren, or yourself . . . you will want to sit down and share it time and time again! It is both fun and can, if you wish, be an opening to talk about what is important in life.
