Fantastic, Oct 12 2000
This review is from: Peace Tour (DVD) (DVD)
I went to the PeaceTour Concert in Sydney and it is almost like being there with the high levels of sound quality that is on this DVD. It has lots of great Acoustic numbers that are typical Dave and Annie. I hope Annie Lennox brings out a DVD of one of her solo concerts.

Horrible audio mix almost ruins a fantastic concert., Oct 15 2005
This review is from: Peace Tour (DVD) (DVD)
First of all, I'm a diehard Eurythmics fan. I absolutely adored their 1999 comeback album "Peace", which regularly pops back into my CD player six years later. Looking at the set list of this DVD almost had me salivating. My expectations were pretty high : all of the classics (minus a couple of songs) and a few of Annie's solo hits, plus a few selected nuggets from "Peace" tastefully slipped in between better-known songs.
After listening to the concert part of this DVD, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. Dave and Annie are still as great as they ever were, but the audio mix is horrible, whether in Dolby Digital or in Surround sound. Annie's voice and Dave's guitar are way up front, WAYYYYYY TOO MUCH, meaning that you can barely hear the musicians and the backup singers. I'm sure it wasn't like that in the real concerts !
Even more problematic is the fact that this type of audio mix is a double-edged sword : it allows us to indulge in Annie's outstanding voice (especially on the acoustic performances), but it also makes the listener aware of all her little flaws (the flat notes on "17 again", the failed attempt at reaching the high notes in the bridge of "Sweet dreams" and so on) because, once again, her voice comes out way too loud compared to the music.
What remains is a DVD packed with classic, first-rate songs, and a duo whose charisma and talent weren't alterated by time. There is also a fantastic and interesting documentary about their reunion and the making of the "Peace" album that is well worth the price of the DVD alone - if you happened to enjoy that particular album.

Living Proof That Not All Artists Are Made In A Studio, Feb 29 2004
This review is from: Peace Tour (DVD) (DVD)
I've read other reviews posted here and what I think they have all failed to touch on is this: Live is the proof in the pudding! If you can listen to the stripped down to guitar versions of some of their most popular songs they render here like only they can, and NOT have chills listening to Annie break her heart up into pieces and vocalize it, then you are the one who placed the chill in her heart.Watch Dave look at her as she sings and pick up on when she is going to hold a note out and when she is not while backing her with nothing but a few strums of a guitar! THAT! Is the meaning of ART. Listening to the different arrangements they have come up with for some of their most popular songs is reason enough to buy this DVD.
