Product Description

From Amazon

Nina Laden's illustrations in this simple, rhyming board book are truly magical. The format is straightforward: on alternating two-page spreads, the words "Peek a" are repeated, opposite an illustrated page with a die-cut hole, behind which lurks a cow ("MOO!"), a green ghost ("BOO!"), and a mirror (you guessed it, "YOU!"). The youngest readers will delight in trying to guess who--or what--is peeking through the window, and can easily grip the baby-fist-size holes to turn the pages for the answers. The picture of the "ZOO!" is fabulous. Through the hole, all that can be seen is a wild pattern of colors, stripes, and spots. Turn the page, and find a wild kingdom of animals, one in front of the other: peacock, zebra, penguin, cheetah, elephant, and more. Ready for more peekaboo fun? Try Nina Laden's Ready, Set, Go! . (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-The exuberant illustrations in this guessing-game board book will enchant infants and toddlers. A bright left-hand page with the words "Peek a" faces a right-hand page with die-cut windows through which a visual clue can be seen. Turn the page and "Peek a MOO!" reveals a black-and-white cow; "Peek a BOO!" a green ghost; "Peek a ZOO!" a crowd of animals including an elephant, giraffe, zebra, etc.; and the final puzzle, "Peek a YOU," has a mirror insert. Vibrant colors with plenty of black outlines make this a charming visual treat for the youngest patrons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book for Babies & Toddlers! Jan. 6 2011
By Angela
Format:Board book
Our 8 and a half month old son absolutely LOVES this book! It is great because it is entertaining, comical, interractive, the words all rhyme with 'who', and this book delivers fun surprises (with clues as to what is behind before turning the page). Our son especially loves seeing himself pop up in the mirror at the end of the book! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone with a baby or toddler! Our son also enjoys the "Ready Set Go" by the same author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daughter is just obsessed with this! April 3 2013
Format:Board book|Verified Purchase
I bought this book, honestly, just to get free shipping on a book my Dad wanted. I am SO happy we bought this! My daughter LOVES this book! The first time I read it to her, she just cracked the biggest smile I have EVER seen! She can sit by herself for 10 minutes just looking at the book. The mirror at the end is genius :)

Format:Board book|Verified Purchase
This is my 7 month old daughter's favourite book. It was also the first book she really enjoyed. She laughs and smiles at every page and even tries to help flip the pages.

Very cute book and for any baby who loves peek-a-boo!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book we have! March 22 2003
By A Customer
Format:Board book
My son has loved this book since we started reading to him at 3 or so months. He has learned to turn the pages (and since the text is so short, I can read it before he turns!) He loves the bright simple pictures and especially the mirror at the end. He always kisses himself, it is SO cute. Course, now he kisses anytime he sees his reflection. This book is wonderful for the simple text and great pictures and the predictablity (a great pre-reading skill!) Our son is 10 months and will sit and "read" it to himself now! A must have for any child's nursery.

5.0 out of 5 stars the owl is just the start Oct. 25 2001
Format:Board book
A very charming book; fun artwork to go along with the guessing game on each page. My 9-month-old is just starting to stick his hand through the cut-out areas and, although he isn't guessing what the word on each page will be, he does laugh at each successive "peek-a-who/moo/boo/zoo/choo-choo/you." Making the appropriate sounds to match each word also gets him laughing. And yes, the mirror is a favorite--a great concept at the end of the book. This is a well-designed first book for a baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a HIT! April 3 2002
Format:Board book
When I bought this book for my twins, I never thought it would be such a big hit. IT IS A HUGE HIT. The girls fight over this book and pick this book out of their pretty large library every morning for mommy to read to them. They always crack up at the peekazoo page and love the mirror at the end. This is a wonderful book.
I also bought the "Ready Set Go!" book by Nina Laden, which is an equally big hit with my children. The flower at the end is what they find fascinating!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best first book for infants, bar none Jan. 29 2002
By A Customer
Format:Board book
High praise, I know, but Peek-a-Who had both of my daughters completely enraptured by the age of 4 months. The simple, bright words and the bold, contrasting pictures really speak to babies. It's a joy to hold an infant on your lap and watch her face light up to "Peek-a...peek-a...peek-a MOO!" We're getting a second copy because our 22-month old loved (and chewed) this favorite to bits when she was a baby. Now she "reads" the whole book perfectly to her baby sister!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone's Favorite June 4 2009
By Prairie Girl TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Board book|Verified Purchase
I picked this book for my first child because of the great reviews and I wasn't disappointed. My daughter is now almost a year old and this book has consistantly been one of her favorites. The cutouts in the pages make it easy and fun to flip, and the mirror at the back is the best part. The rhyming style, repetition and short sections (peak-a.... moo!)make this book a quick read and one that you don't mind repeating. An absolute must for your bookshelf.
