I had purchased this as a gift and it turned out to be exactly what they had been searching for since discovering Pennsylvania Dutch. It's a great little book with intricately detailed scenes of All Hallow's Eve; a perfect addition to any Halloween or PD enthusiasts collection~! Many thanks~!

I purchased this a part of several design/pattern books that I am putting away as a Cristmas Gift. This is a very old craft. On that my hubbie use do a long time ago. They make pretty gifts and decorations for everything from showers to Christmas and even permanent wall hanging. They can also work for most ages. It has been difficult to find idea books. Something my hubbie needs to help him with his creative side. I was thrilled to find this book and so many others on this site. So many for beginner to a more experienced cutter. This is craft can be inexpensive to pricy depending on material used and use of the finished project. It is all up to you. Great family projects as well. I would recommend this to anyone young person to senior if you are interested in paper craft.
So many applications. So much fun.

Discovering A New Craft Sept. 5 2011
By BettyGee - Published on Amazon.com

This book intrigued me with the beautiful dust cover picture. Then after reviewing the contents I thought I would like to try and create some of the amazing cutouts. I belong to a small local craft club and we are always looking for new crafts to try. I made one of the more intricate cuttings and showed it to our members. All but two of our members asked to do this craft in our workshop so it was well received. The author has done a beautiful job in drawing attention to a forgotten art and the poems that accompany the drawings are a big plus. I recommend this book for anyone who loves crafts or for anyone who enjoys seeing the beauty in a simple concept.

Wonderful Halloween Imagery Sept. 2 2011
By John Coniff - Published on Amazon.com

I love this book! Mr. Fritsch's paper cuttings are a marvel. The designs will delight both the Halloween enthusiast, and those seeking inspiration for their own Halloween craft projects. The book presents 37 total scherenschnitte (paper cuttings), with the whole host of Halloween characters represented: jack o'lanterns, witches, ghosts, bats and cats, owls and devils, haunted houses and spooky trees. The cover illustration depicts exactly what the reader can expect to find inside. The entire book, from cover-to-cover, is printed in black ink on orange paper. No other distracting colors. The poems are delightful, too. A wonderful, unique accomplishment. Thank you Mr. Fritsch for sharing your love of Halloween with the rest of us ghouls and goblins!

This book is a wonderful Halloween treat to present to your children, grandchildren, and adults who enjoy beautiful scherenschnitte. Teachers would love this for their classrooms.
It is an awesome collection of intrique designs and for art collectors,
this book is a treasure. The poems are enjoyable... printed in both English and Pennsylvania German.

Pennsylvania Dutch Halloween scherenschnitte- very goood Sept. 21 2011

Interesting imagery of pumpkins, ghouls, ghosts and the accompanying poetry with translations. The use of silhouettes with a Halloween theme go hand in hand.

Absolutely wonderful July 12 2012

The author writes a brief but informative introduction to Pennsylvania Dutch culture and this craft. The appealing paper cuts in the book are all his creations. They have a vintage look and would be irresistible to lovers of vintage Halloween ephemera. He accompanies each paper cut with a short poem in English and what I think is Pennsylvania Dutch. As he explains in the introduction, Pennsylvania Dutch is not Dutch, but an American/German dialect. There is one how-to but this is not a typical craft book, nevertheless it is a great resource for crafters and would be fun to explore with a child. From the charming dust jacket to the font to the paper cuts, this book is a visual delight. The text adds to the charm. I hope there will be more books from this author! Please!
