For years, the recording industry has asked fans to purchase the same music from the 1960s and '70s over and over again, via remasterings, repackagings, and, of course, reformattings. The Doors' box Perception (get it?), cleverly packaged as... a door, does hold some astonishing music, but the thing itself is a weird hybrid beast with multiple formats for every release. Each of the group's six albums has not only been re-remastered (this time by the remaining band members plus original engineer Bruce Botnick as the "40th anniversary mix"), but loaded up with a bevy of previously unreleased bonus tracks. But that's not it--for each album, there's a companion DVD, which includes a whole new 5.1 surround sound mix with more tracks, as well as the usual DVD extras, i.e., photo galleries, lyrics, and videos. That makes 12 discs, much of it essentially redundant. If you're cool with that, you're in for a treat. From the spookier, unissued version of "Indian Summer" to the entirely new tune "Push Push" and some super-rad footage of the band rehearsing L.A. Woman, it's easy to fall in love with this swirling, highly sexualized, and often brilliant band all over again. --Mike McGonigal

Doors sounding better then ever,

This is a great set; all 6 studio albums remastered and remixed by the Doors and Botnick with extra songs plus the best part, the same 6 albums in DVD-audio (boht stereo and 5.1). The new mixes bring out sounds you couldn't hear in the original mixes and sometines add extra tracks to the mix. The doors never sounded better. If you are a Doors fan and into great sound you will love this set.

Just wow for getting everything right!,

This is the very first Doors album or box set I've purchased for myself. Firstly you should Wikipedia the album and check out all the tracks before you purchase. If you have prior albums maybe this isn't the choice for you. However for me this is also the only one I needed to purchase because it includes all 6 albums with Jim Morrison remastered and even a DVD-Audio version of each track. (Amazing if you have the hardware to play it!) If you want the full Doors experience this is the set for you. I personally love it, and the bonus track Celebration of the Lizard rivals the psychedelic awesomeness of The End and maybe even improves upon it. DVD extra videos are a nice addition, though I do recall seeing them on YouTube sometime in the past already. There are indeed tracks on here I've never heard until now and I thoroughly enjoy each different take. The box itself is probably a bit smaller than you'd think from the picture, but it is quite sturdy it holds 6 different packs with album art on each one, and in each pack a DVD and CD. I give this product a 5 outta 5, its also backed by the reassurance its a great deal as opposed to the old 130 dollar price. Thanks Amazon!

Here is the whole set of The Doors albums, remastered in several different formats, with extra tracks and some video clips. A great package!
