Fantastic, April 6 2004
Have most of there albums, but have never seen a concert live or on video. Untill now. It was great. Not as energetic as I though, but never-the-less Fabulous.

I must confess that I will buy anything Pet Shop Boys. However, this is one for the true fans and not even just for those who happen to like their music. I was a bit disappointed with the video, given the high-polish and clever use of imagery in their typical videos from the early days. I could tell that this was a piece that probably played out much more satisfactorily on the stage than on the screen -- it is true that films have spoiled us a little, so that when we see a stage-play on video tape, there is something missing. It is a mix of media that doesn't work on all levels, and I am used to the Pet Shop Boys making sure their music and videos work on all the levels.
I wasn't able to get to London to see their show, and this one didn't go on the road. I was able to see their concerts in America, and they were quite well-staged and choreographed, with no less quality in the music for the life performances. I'm sure the same was true for this one, and certainly for anyone who did see the show live in London will appreciate having the background video information and experience too.
The Pet Shop Boys have often done a strange mix of conventional and innovation, and it doesn't always work completely. That is the case here. However, for the die-hard fans who have to have everything they put out, this piece is good and needed for the collection.

Excellent!, July 31 2003
This is the third PSB video I've picked up and it is my absolute favorite. The coverage of the concert is well shot and gives you a good feel for what it would have been like to have been there. There are no extra video insertions over the audio (like footage from music videos, etc.). The "documentary" footage at the beginning of the video is great. It's interesting but brief. It kept my attention but didn't leave me wishing it was over so I could get onto the video. I highly recommend this for fans and non-fans alike.
