While this product description indicates the door can be installed through a wall, it is really designed for a door. The "extra materials" needed for wall installation are supplied by the buyer - me. Once I discovered this I was able to rig a 2x4 framed opening so I could use screws on each side of the wall to attach the pet door frames. It is working OK. Our Golden Doodle has no problem going through it. It certainly is not weather proof. A more expensive model is needed for that.
