Product Description

Embellish your quilts and design projects with three-dimensional flowers that are unique, fun, and easy to do. Appli-bond is a time-saving method that eliminates the need to finish fabric edges, resulting in quick and stunning floral creations. Create realistic flowers as you master curling techniques. Make washable, wearable flower corsages, too! Recommended for quilters and crafters of all ages and skill levels. Perfect for every project! 20 patterns to choose from and combine....10 traditional blocks - 10 Appli-bond flowers (for example, Water Lily floating on Lady of the Lake). AUTHORBIO: Joan, who was taught to sew on a Singer treadle machine by her grandmother, has been a quilter for many years. She has her own pattern company, Petal Play, which she operates from her home in Massachusetts. In addition, she has taught and lectured extensively throughout the country. She has appeared on television on the PBS show "Quilting from the Heartland" with Sharlene Jorgenson, and on the HGTV program "Simply Quilts" with Alex Anderson. REVIEW: Joan Shay has been making flowers bloom for years through her books on Appli-bond applique. In this her latest book, she goes a step further, combining her charming fabric flowers with traditional quilt designs, to make delightful hybrid creations...Beginning with good solid general instructions on quilt-making, the book goes on to provide detailed plans for 10 projects.

About the Author

Although Joan doesn't love gardening, she does love flowers. It was through her love of flowers and a desire to make them as realistic as possible out of fabric that her Appli-bond technique was conceived. It's difficult to believe that she comes to quilting having no artistic training, because her Petal Play designs are so life-like. Joan, who was taught to sew on a Singer treadle machine by her grandmother, has been a quilter for many years. She has her own pattern company, Petal Play, which she operates from her home in Massachusetts. In addition, she has taught and lectured extensively throughout the country. She has appeared on television on the PBS show Quilting from the Heartland with Sharlene Jorgenson, and on the HGTV program Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson. A registered nurse, Joan and her husband, Tony, live on Cape Cod. They have two children, Matthew and Kristin, and a grandaughter, Shay Elizabeth.
