James Dean's art has been sold in more than ninety galleries and shops across the United States. He has devoted his paintings to Pete the Cat for ten years and has turned his natural love for cats into his life's work. James published his first adult book, The Misadventures of Pete the Cat, a history of his artwork, in 2006. He illustrated his first self-published children's book, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, in 2008, and the follow-up book, Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes, in 2011. James lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, four cats, and one dog.

This book is a favorite. It has so many learning opportunities, colors+++, counting, subtraction, numbers, highlighted words,song, emphatic expression. Also a lesson in detachement from things and acceptance of things we cannot change. Very creative and well done. It's not just a story it's a learning journey through basic math, colors, song and attitude.

Excellent tool for beginning Math. So much can be done to stretch the story out and make it interactive! Add buttons, then subtract. The belly button is a fun addition too! Read more

This book is wonderful, the only thing I do not like is the "4-1=3" part. My son is so young he wouldnt understand so we just leave that out until he is older. Read more
