Petego Pet Tube Kennel

The Petego Pet Tube is a lightweight but super-strong fabric kennel that provides a smart and stylish solution to travelling freely with your pets. It comes in a useful tube shape in two sizes, the larger of which can be used partially at one or two thirds of its total length, thus solving space problems on the back seat.

Portability

The Pet Tube fits in almost any car, truck, and SUV. It comes in two sizes, a 47-inch-long version for large dogs, and an 18-inch-long version for small dogs. An adult and the small version can comfortably share a back seat. When you’re done with the Pet Tube, it quickly collapses and the ends zip together for easy trunk storage.

Safe & Comfortable

You don’t have to worry about your pooch jumping into the front seat or unsafely moving about the car. The Pet Tube straps securely to the rear seat. Its shape gives your pet room to move while the Pet Tube stays still. Optional comfort pillows are available for the Pet Tube (sold separately). These dense foam pillows provide added comfort for your pet while traveling in the Pet Tube. The Petego Car Seat Extender (sold separately) is another great accessory for the Pet Tube. It fills the space between the front and back seats of your car.

Pet Tube Sizes:

Large: 24 inches by 47 inches
Small: 18 inches by 18 inches

The pet tube allows you to share the seat without a dog on your lap.

A great way to safely transport you pet.
The ends zip together for easy storage.

Prior to installing the Petego pet tube in our vehicle we let our yellow lab puppy walk through it a couple of times in the house to get used to it. Once installed in the SUV,she has had no problem going into the tube and can relax at her own will while being secured.

I bought this for my three cats while traveling/moving. It fills the entire backseat of my GMC Envoy from door to door and does not impede sight while driving in any way.
My cats absolutely LOVED this. I purchased the pillows as well and then threw in some blankets and they were happier than I'd ever seen them in a car (and we travel A LOT!). There is plenty of room to roam, sleep and spread out, even for large cats. If needed, a travel litter box and food and water would easily fit in here as well.
I would recommend this to ANYONE who wants to make sure their pets are safe, happy and comfortable on a long car trip.

I have three little dogs and having this in the back seat with them all cuddled up in their tube together w own pillows and blankets etc.. is great. Keeps the car tidy after an afternoon at the leash free and they get dirty - keeps that dirt in the tunnel to easily remove when I get home - just overall awesome dog kennel for the car - and even up North if we need in the house - just put blocks around so they don't roll all over the cottage... :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Investment! Sept. 17 2010

I recently traveled across country, Phoenix (AZ) to DC with my three cats and the thought of stuffing them in their separate kennels for journey, even with nightly stops, was not appealing. A family member spotted the Pet Tube in a magazine and I was sold. I did buy the accompanying comfort pillows, which are a fit perfect in the Pet Tube and easy to clean in the event of messes (I had food and water and small litter pan in the large Pet Tube plus three cats!). I did even up rotating on cat up by me for breaks in a carrier to give everyone a bit more room to breathe, but the Pet Tube made a night a day difference with three cats that normally loss their minds just on the way to the vet!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally - Dog and Doggie Parent Happy!!!! Oct. 18 2012
By Make it Easy - Published on Amazon.com

I've spent a lot of $$$ trying different things in my Mazda CX-7 to keep my rambunctious 1 year old 55-pound lab mix safe and comfortable while allowing her to have some freedom. I've tried the zip line and harness (dog almost strangled herself when the line got wrapped around her neck when she turned around), seatbelt harness (dog did not like downward slope of seat for laying down and just wouldn't settle down), and a soft-crate (which was a royal pain getting it into and out of the car). I decided to try one last product, the Petego Pet Tube Car Kennel, Large, and if that didn't work, I'd go back to the better of the previously mentioned products. Bottom Line Up Front: We LOVE the Pet Tube but it is not quite perfect. What I like:
- The Pet Tube was easy to install in my back seat. Just put it in your car and pop it open. There are three straps that you can use to anchor the tube to your back seat. That plus the front seats means the tube isn't going anywhere. I always leave it in the full size configuration since if it isn't in my car, it's in a hotel or relative's house that I drove to. If I need to fold it down I just use a couple of bungee cords to wrap around it rather deal with folding it back down perfectly so you can pack it away.
- My dog can easily move back and forth across the back seat, turn around, and sort-of do a slouchy-sit up and the mesh top gives the dog some (but not a whole lot of) visibility without her trying to poke her head out the window. Sometimes I leave the back windows fully open and my dog can poke her nose out a bit against the mesh and I don't worry about her jumping up on the window ledge or debris hurting her.
- The dirt and pet hair stay contained in the tube and it is easy to vacuum out and wipe down.
- My dog can chew on a bone in it and if I stop suddenly, the bone doesn't go flying or get lost under the front seat.
- There's room for another medium or small dog to fit in the tube when making short trips to the dog park or when traveling to pack walks. Wouldn't have another dog in there for a long trip though.
- On sudden stops, I don't particularly care if my dog loses her balance as she won't get hurt because she won't slide off the seat or bang into anything hard. The Pet Tube gives me peace of mind when traveling with my dog--I find that I'm no longer looking back to see if my dog is tangled up with straps or if the zip line is stuck.
- In a pinch, I use this as a portable kennel. Because the tube is round it needs to be wedged up against a bed or wall with your suitcases or a chair. If you can't use a soft-crate because your dog chews, scratches or whatever, you won't be able to use this one either.
-If making a shopping trip without your dog, you can throw your packages into the tube and zip it up and your packages will stay put. Just don't put anything in there that may rip the tube fabric.

What I don't like:
- I couldn't find any crash safety information to determine if the stitching will hold if a heavy loose dog goes flying forward during an accident. It holds well during sudden stops though.
- Once you zip your dog up in the tube you will need to be a bit of a contortionist if you or your passenger want to pet your dog or give it a treat as you will have to reach the zippers on the end. You'd have the same problem if you used a soft crate so this isn't an issue unique to this product. I would have liked this product to have a small zipped opening in the top so you can access your dog from the middle.
- Although there is a lot of mesh over the top, it is hard to see your dog inside the tube as the mesh material is dark. If your backseat normally gets a lot of light this won't be a problem.
- Even though I used the straps that came with the product and anchored it to the back seat, the tube still slides a smidge on my leather seats. Because of this, the obscenely expensive comfort pillows that you can buy with this end up sliding as well. I'm going to try putting the pillows underneath the tube and velcro in a bath runner or doggie mats inside for her to lay on as laying on the nylon wouldn't be comfortable. I suggest you skip the related pillows and come up with a cheaper solution that works for your dog.
- If you don't already have one, you will need to get a no-spill water bowl if you want your dog to have water in the tube. There's no place for a crate-style watering tube and water will slosh over a regular bowl.

For these reasons, I didn't give the product 5-stars but, on the whole, I'm really glad I bought the tube. My dog relaxes better in the tube and sleeps more and I'm not worrying about what's going on in the back seat. As for quality, I haven't had any issues with the zippers like others have had. I hope you find this review useful to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2500 Miles and Two Cats July 27 2011
By Robert Morris - Published on Amazon.com

I had to move two cats from the East Coast to Washington state this summer and was really stressed about how it would work, especially since I was going to be the only human on the trip. I found the pet tube and decided it was my best option for myself and the cats. I have to say it worked great. The cats had enough room to get up and move. What's more, they actually were able to use the medium sized litter box I provided them in the tube. Getting the tube in and out of my small Mazda hatchback was fine as long as I moved the seats up when it was time.

From what I can tell this thing is very durable. I lugged it in an out of several hotel rooms while it was filled with 24 lbs of cat. No problems. I did put some twist ties on the zippers because I knew my cats would soon figure out how to open it. Some were complaining because it doesn't let much light in. For me that was a plus because it encouraged the cats to sleep and not concentrate on the movement of the car.

This thing is well worth the money if you have to move a pet a long distance. I don't know what I would have done without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best pet carrier available. Aug. 26 2010
By SailorGal - Published on Amazon.com
I bought this carrier (the large one) for my two cats when moving across country. I made the trip in 2 days, 11-12 hours driving each day, instead of the planned 4 day drive. They never complained. I stopped frequently the first day to let them take breaks, but they didn't seem to mind sitting in it and sleeping the whole way, so I just kept driving until I was tired. The second day they slept so much I pulled over a couple times just to make sure they were still okay. They were just chillin'. They play in it and go in happily when I have it out in the house. I had it out in the living room for a couple weeks before moving, and they think it is their play house. We use it frequently for trips to see family 4-5 hours away, and they don't seem to mind the car trip at all. It is hard to see in from the outside, but if you climb in you find they can see out just fine. It collapses very flat and takes up almost no storage room, but sets up as quickly as unzipping a zipper. For a large vehicle, there are adjustable straps to secure it. In my compact car, it filled the whole back seat. Traveling with pets has never been so easy, and I feel happy that they are safe. There is no better pet carrier for traveling in a car.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best cat mover ever! Sept. 2 2012

5 days of driving, moving from AZ to NY with 4 cats, one driver! It was a trip I had been dreading from the time I found out about my company transfer. The Petego tube saved my life, I don't know how I would have managed without it!

I didn't buy the pads for inside, I just used a big blanket which worked just fine. I have an SUV so I folded down the seats, packed stuff in the back to level things out and then put the Petego in lengthwise (not horizontally across). Then packed stuff around the sides. I put them all in to start off with then once on the road I opened up the zipper closest to me so they could roam around. I had rigged a makeshift barrier out of a cargo net from Walmart that I would put up whenever I had to stop for gas so they couldn't jump out. When it was time to stop for the night I got them all back into the Petego, which wasn't too hard because that's where most of them would be anyway sleeping. I'd zip it up and lift it onto the luggage cart (heavy but doable) from the pet friendly hotels I stayed at and then just wheeled them into the room. I would leave them in there until I got situated in the room (brought in their cat box, food and my overnight bag) and then I would let them out in the room.

I also had a 2 cheap collapsible carriers with me which came in handy when I couldn't wrestle all of them at the same time or when I didn't have the use of a luggage cart on one of my night stops. You could probably carry 3 cats in it if you were strong but 4 cats is a bit too heavy if you were going to try to carry it more than a few feet.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has to move multiple cats. If I had put them in separate cages I think it would have been a disastrous trip. Other than the first few miles they really didn't freak out at all. They were very content in sleeping together in the tube and pretty much just zoned out for most of the trip.
