Writer's Block is one of my favorite albums to come out in recent years (from any band). So I've gotten a couple of other Peter, Bjorn and John albums just to get a little more. This is (I think) their earliest album. It's no where near as good as writers block. The other reviewer is right in that...in the earlier albums the singer does tend to mimic John Lennon and to be a bit whiney....by the time Writer's Block came out...he figured out his vocal style....and the band just got way better. That being said...there are 3 songs on this album that I think are very good. I listen to them all the time. They would be...
4. A Mutual Misunderstanding
7. Collect, Select, Reflect
10. Please, Go Home
The rest of the album is good...but these 3 are very good. Nowadays...getting an album with 3 hits on it is pretty good odds (aint like the days of the Beatles and Pink Floyd).
Oddly enough I think I like this album better than the one that came after (titled "Falling Out")...because this has more hits. "Falling out has one really great song, "It beats me everytime." The rest are good...maybe overall better than the songs on this album...and yet...3 hits are better than 1. So if you really like Writer's Block...or even liked Falling Out and you want a little more....go for it.
You'll definitely get some gems!
